Mine smelled like burning plastic when used. I even tried running it for hours in the garage to burn off smells and that never worked. I returned mine.

Came here to say that we ordered this last time and the burning chemical smell filled the house, and then the basement, and even tainted the food we cooked. You only have a return window of 14 days I guess, so they only gave me store credit. I mean this thing will straight up kill birds in your house if you have any I'd suspect...

Is normal for all air fryers. Mine the odor went away like in the 6th use. Even in the manual says it.
I'd avoid Insignia air fryers. Their prices are enticing, but you get what you pay for.
Nope. They are top quality despite the price. Air Fryers may be the best item they make. I have both this one that I got for $10 less on the last deal and the basket version that I got for $50 and I couldn't ask for better air fryers. I'd easily pay $150 each know that I know how great they are. It's a steal at this price. Outperformed Ninja that was much more expensive.

Hopefully you're right. I just bought it, may air it out in the garage for the first couple uses. Did you have the same issue?

I got two of them from the cheap Bella brand. They never smelled not even on first use. I have been using them for months. The only issues I had is the nonstick coating flaking. I purchased a silicone air fryer bowl and I highly recommend it.
