Great price was about to get one but upon checking on Amazon found out most of the reviews talk about the lid molds..

I have been using this since 3 years with no issues. I have 6 bottles of the same with different colors, all my 3 kids love this. Never got any mold issue.

I'm drinking out of one of these right now and these comments got me checking my lid. No mold. Whew. I'm not even that great at cleaning it but I pretty much exclusively use it with water so that probably helps. I can say that I have several bottles of various types and this is the only one (with a valve) that I trust not to leak when it's laying sideways in my backpack on the plane. It's a good one.

I like zojiroshi but the reasons I use this bottle all the time are the one handed use and the ability to drink from it while lying down. No need to get up or tilt your head at a special angle to have a drink of water.

Does anyone know if they make a non-vacuum water bottle compatible with auto-seal lids? My contigo coffee thermos is fantastic for just water, but the vacuum seal takes up so much volume and the whole thing is bulky. I just want a plastic bottom. Anyone come across a compatible bottom like that?

Bought 2 of these a few years ago on Amazon Black Friday lightning deal, for about the same prize.

We use these for hikes or at the beach and the ice lasts longer than other mugs.

Haven't had any mold issues. Highly recommend.

I have four or five of these and I use them every day at work and at home. They're great. No mold issues ever. I also wash them regularly.

We have four of these! This is a great deal, similar to what I got them at Clearance two years ago but without this many choices. I use one of these daily and is my go to water container for the day to help me track my water intake for the day. I throw them in the dishwasher bottom rack (stainless steel w/o color). I place the lid on top shelf and I jam the opening open by pushing the seal to open and sliding it on one of the pins through the drinking hole. Never had any issues with it or had it leak water ever! Perfect size for kids to take to school as well. My kids fight over them when there's only one left… :-)
I wash mine the exact same way, but a couple points to keep in mind:
  • If you don't buy the pure stainless versions, i.e. yours is colored, the pain will flake off in the dishwasher, so I prefer the non-colored ones for that reason.
  • Sticking the dishwasher tines through the mouthpiece will damage it slightly and ruin the seal. Mine leaks now after doing that. The newer models pop open for cleaning, so it isn't necessary, but I'm pretty sure I've read they don't last as long. I just bought one, so I guess I'll see.
I've been using a few different Contigo bottles for several years on a daily basis, two for water and one for coffee/tea, only wash them occasionally, and have never had any mold issues.

Does this have a coating on the inside of the stainless? Is that why it's cold only? Why is the body hand wash only?

I've got quite a few Contigo products and have never had any leak or mold issues. The auto seal lid you can pop the vent tab out with a butter knife and i put a toothpick in the drink port and pop it in the dishwasher. I carry the 24oz. where ever I go but my favorite is my 16oz. West Loop i use as my Martini cup! Also, Contigo's warranty and customer service is excellent! Bottom came off of one after several drops (Not martini related.) and a few trips through the dishwasher and they replaced it.

There are a bunch of divas on slickdeals now that unless the item is free shipping to their couch they don't like it.
If you have to make a trip in the car to 'save' $10, you're not saving anything.

if there's mold issues, you're not paying attention and don't understand basic cleaning, etc. - never ever ever remotely had an issue with mold.

most sealed, insulated products are handwash only. not uncommon. takes a few seconds to handwash, no real reason to subject them to the heat, etc. of a dishwasher. it's also a bit disturbing that people clearly don't know how to wash something if they're having issues with mold...
