COVID Passports

White House working with private companies to develop COVID passports [nypost.com]

The Biden administration is helping the private sector develop COVID-19 vaccine "passports" for Americans inoculated against the virus, the White House confirmed on Monday.

The government is working to set standards for Americans to prove that they have been vaccinated, as businesses try to reopen, travel begins to pick up and sports teams plan a return.

Curious what people's thoughts are on the COVID Passports. I'm personally not a fan, but I wouldn't be regardless of who the President. It strikes me as very odd that anti-vaxxer's are currently painted as trump fans while I've usually lumped them in as a sub-sect of the Whole Foods Liberals crowd and the more crazy libertarians.
What are your thoughts on a COVID Passport

We need at least a worldwide standard that's attached to your official passport and takes the place of a patchwork of testing requirements for international travel. Would be a boon for reopening international tourism.

Claiming NO responsibility by Trump for the current state of affairs is an implicit admission his term's policies and actions had NO EFFECT
#VulgarDonald"Trump is a pathological liar." "Trump is a phony." "He doesn't know the difference between truth and lies. He lies practically every word that comes out of this mouth."
Then: "The pattern we've seen under President Obama, disregarding the law, is really one of the most troubling aspects of this presidency, When he disagrees with the law…he simply refuses to comply with it."
Now: "Today, judicial lawlessness crossed into judicial tyranny, Today, for the first time ever, the government arrested a Christian woman for living according to her faith. This is wrong. This is not America. I stand with Kim Davis. Unequivocally. I stand with every American that the Obama Administration is trying to force to chose between honoring his or her faith or complying with a lawless court decision."

"What we just saw today was an absolute demonstration that, not only what he (McConnell) told every Republican senator, but what he told the press over and over and over again was a simple LIE."

Then: "This bill (Hurricane Sandy relief) is symptomatic of a larger problem in Washington—an addiction to spending money we do not have. The United States Senate should not be in the business of exploiting victims of natural disasters to fund pork projects that further expand our debt."
Now: "Today, Texans are hurting. ... Democrats and Republicans in the congressional delegation will stand as one in support of the federal government meeting its statutory obligations to provide the relief to help the Texans who are hurting."

"In the 13 months I've been in the Senate, it has become apparent to me the single thing that Republicans hate and fear the most - and that is when they're forced to tell the truth. It makes their heads explode. An awful lot of the Republicans wanted exactly what Barack Obama wanted, exactly what Nancy Pelosi wanted, exactly what Harry Reid wanted, which is to raise the debt ceiling, but they wanted to be able to tell what they view as their foolish, gullible constituents back home they didn't do it."

"Look – look, of course we should have a surgeon general in place. And we don't have one because President Obama, instead of nominating a health professional, he nominated someone (Dr. Murthy MD & Harvard Medical School Professor) who is an anti-gun activist."

"What I tell people is I wear this (indictment for abuse of power) as a badge of honor"

"His (Robert's) decision yesterday and his decision a couple of years ago violated his oath of office,"

"Today's Democratic Party has decided there is no room for Christians. There is a liberal fascism that is going after Christian believers."

I didn't limit the government option to just the US government.

It's been over a year since I have seen my mom... and she is not getting any younger.

International tourism scares me... even when I am fully vaccinated I still have to quarantine for two weeks etc... I was hoping to go to Montreal for the first week of July with my family but it looks like it will not happen... I can't expect my kid to quarantine.

I don't see why not.

This was true at one point, at least it skewed that way. But some time in the last 10-15 years it became about equally distributed (certainly by the time of that Texas HPV kerfuffle), and had since been trending more Republican. It overlaps highly with the anti-government, anti-intellectual, religious, home-school crowd. But there is still a sizeable faction among the blue ranks too.

I don't support any such idea no matter private o government run. This would be a clear infringement on people's freedoms and individual rights and should be vehemently opposed.

I like Naomi Wolf's take on it: Mandatory Vaccine Passport Could Lead To The End Of Human Liberty In The West

No one's making you get over. Geez. Do you believe drivers licenses are also "a clear infringement on people's freedoms and individual rights and should be vehemently opposed."

How is a vaccine passport any worse than negative COVID test requirements?

Is it because of fear mongering about the risk of the vaccine?

Is your plan to just throw out random fallacies and hope one sticks?

You made a huge stink about the very concept of this voluntary card and posting a link talking about why it should not be mandatory. I think you misunderstand the thread topic.

The covid vaccines do not prevent transmission they only alleviate the symptoms.

You're wrong. The latest studies tell us that the vaccine prevents infection 90% of the time, which prevents transmission.
