Any idea how much the weight base costs? Trying to put this on my balcony, so sand bags isn't an option.

Didn't look too closely at this one, but the one I got from Amazon (warehouse deals, for 40 bucks, btw) has a base that's designed to be held down by square pavers at each quadrant. From the picture, this looks to be the same idea.

I'd be down for that. Would you mind sharing a link?

The one I bought is no longer available, and the instructions aren't online (that's what you get when you go cheap). But the basic idea is this:

https://www.overstock.com/Home-Ga...n=17787516

except using $20 bucks in cement pavers rather than their $100 plastic gizmo.

I had this same umbrella -- ordered in exchange for review -- and loved it; it was sturdy, mostly waterproof and huuuuge when deployed. The only chintzy parts were some plastic locks and other little parts that could break, though the main parts were aluminum and higher quality tarp.

I had cement pavers, 12" x 12", that you can pick up most any home improvement store. I put a total of 8 (2x2x2) and the base would've stayed put in high winds. The 100$ base from amazon or overstock was unnecessary, though probably better looking.

I ultimately returned it because they didn't reimburse me for the review, but it was a very solid umbrella.

You just put the pavers on top of the lip at the bottom and stack them?

These bases need to be >120 pounds (according to the product manual I received). Ikea has a quality plastic base that can hold ~200lbs for $50 "Svarto", better than these other thin bases

Yup. it could stand alone and be pretty sturdy, but there are holes for bolts if you desire.

This looks pretty identical to one I got from Kroger on sale last summer for about $60. It's worked fine except there's a round plastic piece on the arm to keep tension at certain angles. It started splitting within a few months. Probably an easy fix with the right size metal ring.

The wife was just about to buy one from wayfair for $500. I said, "wait, let me check slickdeals!" Never purchased from Costway before so hopefully this umbrella holds up. In for 1
