Water "resistant", not waterproof. Big difference.

Good price. Thanks OP. Still have a few from HF, but they don't seem to go on sale anymore.

Harbor freight is not doing coupons anymore like we were all used to. Try to think back to when was the last time you received a mailer.

This is the normal price (I actually see $4.28 and bought at $4.28 a month ago and had been eyeing it a little for some time before that); this is no deal.

I would disagree.

Here's the most recent HF coupon at 3.49.

Water Proof = You can splash it with water and should still be dry inside. Good for rain, splash and sprinkler protection.
Water Resistant = Just like your old Casio watch says, it is not only waterproof but you can also submerge it in shallow water and should resist water entry.

I'd choose Water Resistant because all Water Resistant are also Water proof.
The harbor freight one is also water resistant at 3.49 (price after coupon).

Description from HF:

This rugged dry box protects ammunition, camera equipment, personal electronics and more. The ammo box is constructed from heavy gauge polypropylene for dent-proof, rust-proof storage. The reinforced lid resists moisture, latches securely and can be locked shut for safety.

Water resistant tongue-and groove lid

Holds 6-8 boxes of standard ammo

Corrosion resistant bail latch

Pre-drilled for padlock (lock sold separately)

Heavy gauge polypropylene construction with reinforced lid

Is this a good case to bury your political items in your back yard in case someone tries to take them?

I would think you need to open it once in a while, as moisture still seeps in over time and can be trapped in the container.

Or put in one of those moisture removing packets and it would be good till the packet is no longer effective.

Or just smear the items in cosmoline and fill up the container with 5w-20 and dunk it in there underground 😀
