This book is a memoir about a young adult being forced to move back in with his dad following the 2008 financial crisis. It also captures the spirit of early twitter, as that's the origin of the book. I actually have a physical copy of this book, which I think I might have gotten at a bookstore off the bargain rack. The whole concept might be dated at this point.

Meh! If you are into critiquing books, this is not the right forum..

Have I entered some weird alternative SD? While I don't necessarily disagree, shitting on books and movies (and extrapolating people's political references and berating them for it) is a near daily occurrence in this forum. I'm amused by the "not the time or place" comments on this particular book.

My opinion is It's definitely worth $2, especially if you are unfamiliar with the material. While I can't account for everyone's taste, I found it very funny at times. Laugh ratio > $2 makes it slick.

Agreed. It's kind of like saying "this isn't the place for critiquing the quality of that tv". I think that people saw this critique as unhelpful; which I disagree with.
Every time I see a condom deal on Slickdeals, I clicked in to the comments section to look for jokes. Don't spoil the fun!

By the way, reviews are useful for purchase decisions. Being a puritan doesn't help the forum

That's not an argument. The fact that this forum's title doesn't include an explicit endorsement of evaluating the quality of the product doesn't mean that the forum is not an appropriate place for doing it.
Honest question: do you have friends who disagree strongly with you on important issues?
Sure. We just don't do it on Slick Deals.

Read this a few years ago and a few of them gave me a good chuckle. Especially the one about his son's first day at Kindergarten being 'Hard'. "Son, I have some bad news for you..."

Will never get tired of seeing Twittards getting hit by the reality that no one outside of Twitter agrees with them.

Thanks... ordered a 'like new' hard copy with dust shield delivered for $7.

There is a place and moment for innocuous reading material that may or may not subscribe to fiction. After all, have you actually read the book to provide a valid critique?
