If you're looking for something to plug straight into your computer to record podcast or vocals I wouldn't recommend this. As the title states this is a studio mic it'll need 48v as someone already stated.

By the time you've bought the interface and cables to hook upto your computer you'll be at around 70-100. Get on Amazon as search for computer microphone. The blue ones are pretty decent quality.

If you do get a condenser microphone I'd recommend a pop shield too. Condensers are sensitive to the force created from the air coming out of your mouth, causing the recording to pop/clip, hence pop shield. Also don't drop it or swing it around your head, you'll want an sm58 if you're doing that.
Agreed. Though it's gonna be way more than $100 when all is said and done. Just a decent interface, like a Focusrite Scarlett single mic, is $150 unless you catch it on sale. Even then it's still always over $100.

I see so much bad information thumbed up here by others who don't know because it sounds "truthy". Take any advice your read here, or any other non subject-specific forum with huge grains of salt. There's good and bad info on all forums, but I'd much rather get my audio info from and audio/recording forum than from a deals forum.
To add, I think you are both correct. Here, you can determine if this is a good deal for what you get with a few warnings that you need extra equipment. Out on the web, you can learn everything else. It's a holistic approach to research. To tell someone to go off and search Google, is like saying no one from SD contributes to any other content besides SD.

So, I'm currently using an AudioTechnica AT-2020. Anyone know if this is better or worse for just podcasting or spoken recording?
I picked one up and own a AT2020. I wanted to potentially have two mics for when my wife wants to start recording a podcast like every other living being... I found this video that compares these mics and the mics sound very comparable.
https://youtu.be/kbZdWKjrDV0
Due to mobile I can't make the URL at the correct time but 05:12 he starts comparing mics and 06:45 he compares specifically to the AT2020.

The deal is over so I hope you got it if you wanted it! Bottom line, not an upgrade to the AT2020 but quite comparable for cheaper!

Mine was delivered today. Ran it through some checks, does definitely require phantom power.
Very impressed with this mic so far, comparing it to my Blue Yeti and it's holding its own so far, It's a LOT lighter than the Blue and lacks some of the "bells and whistles" but I am quite impressed.
