Never had any issues with my MS mouse eating batteries.
MS Mice seem to eat batteries (rechargeable and otherwise) way faster than comparable Logitech, at least in my experience.

Does this require dongle or is it straight bluetooth. Been having issues with usb dongle ones disconnecting

I'm daily using mine from that deal, so worth for $3. Didn't like my Logi at all

Yes, I have the same poor battery experience. If leave the mouse on letting it adjust itself, the battery indication light will turn red in a week.

Yes, this is a dongle-based mouse. The "Blue Track" terminology in MS's product listing seems designed to be confused with "BlueTooth", which this mouse is not.

Pass. Go BlueTooth or go home.

Amazon had 2x Microsoft Surface BlueTooth mice for $20" a couple of weeks ago. That's the kind of deal you should be waiting for.

I am using the wireless mouse 4000 right now. The range sucks! My mouse is 3 feet away from the receiver and it can't get signal. I suggest to get something else.
