I bought 4 of these when they went on sale for $10 a while back and regret buying them. They are crap. They depleted brand new high-quality AA batteries in less than 2 weeks with minimal use. I would buy something of better quality.

Yeah, I have been using this mouse since like an year and I guess I already changed like 5-6 batteries till now.

Seeing a lot of negatives. I bought one of these (4000) when I worked at a company that only provided wired dell mouse to use. This was in 2018.

Decided that was dumb and looked for a mouse that would be affordable but also nice to use. Man, I really liked this mouse. Currently I have a MX Master 3, which is really excellent, but if you're looking for something cheap I don't think you can do better than this mouse. Clicking is excellent. Scroll wheel is smooth. Comfortable to use. And the back button is helpful.

Yeah, it is basic. It is cheap. It will eat through some batteries (how expensive is one battery every so often though?). But for $10 bucks? Don't think it can be beat!

Shocked by the many negatives, but I 100% believe them. Maybe something changed in the internal design or manufacture of these, because I've been using three of them for 5+ years and have no issues at all with battery life, connectivity or range. For me, one AA battery lasts three-ish months with typical use, all day, 8-5.

MS Mouse does eat a lot of battery compared to the Logitech ones (Based on my experience from a Microsoft 4000 mouse bought 3 years ago). The battery drain issue may have been fixed now.

But, the MS mouses have much less interference when plugged into USB 3 port. Logitech have connectivity issues when used with USB 3.0. When I try to drag and drop something, I lose it somewhere midway. No such issues with Microsoft 4000 mouse.

Is this the small mouse? My love my compact Microsoft Mouse , but the rubber is coming off, and my scroll wheel is getting stiff after about 8 years of use.
My battery life is pretty good in that mouse too.

EDIT: I just realize this is the same mouse I have. It is my favorite mouse out of all the ones I have. I absolutely love the compact size. Battery life lasts forever. I am surprised anytime my battery dies, and realize that my red light had been on for about a month before it kicks the bucket.

I am getting another one. I paid $20 for it in 2012

Also going strong with 5+ year old 4000 mouses. And I've noticed the newer 4000 mouses don't have the same click/scroll feel as the old ones, so I switched over to Logitech for new mouses (M590 Silent my current favorite).

All of the non-Logitech/Microsoft mouses I've ever used have the annoying sleep mode in which after some time of inactivity, you have to click a mouse button for it to wake up before it'll start actually responding. I'd love to hear of other brands that don't do that.
