Having lived in a house with a frozen salamander in the freezer (for future dissection) I was really confused about what was being sold here.
You've obviously been to my house.

And like multiples. I mean I can't even...why not 1x AAA?
For blue LEDs you need 4.x volts. So for this, you'd have to jam in 3x AAA batteries to get that voltage. The voltage required is the reason for the multiple button cells.

I'm offended Target called this "Frozen 2 Salamander" instead of Fire Spirit. That's a no sale for me.

I have two of these night lights for my daughters. Word of warning, these things drain batteries quickly! There have been multiple times where the girls will forget to turn off the lights and by the next evening the batteries are dead. It got to a point where I just had to hide the salamanders and get them something else because I got tired of having to continually buy and replace the LR44 batteries. Yes, it's a good price for the salamander, but you'll end up spending a fortune in batteries.

For those complaining about the LR44 battery requirements, for toys like this I tend to just cut the mini/micro end off of an old usb charging cable and solder the cable to the battery contacts. That way you can just plug the toy into any USB charger, battery bank, computer, etc.

surely for another 10cents there is a circuit that can take 1.5v in and change it to 4.5v

Heads up. We bought one a few months back and then returned it shortly after. Other than the battery annoyance, it was poorly lit. The kids were disappointed.

Yep.. first thing that I thought of when I saw that it uses LR44 batteries.. if it was AA or AAA, I would have jumpped on this at retail price.
