I think I am going to purchase one. Remind me of Final Fantasy Tactics. Any recommendation between Disgaea 1 or 2? Plan to pick up one only. Thanks OP.

I'd go with 2 mainly because of the quality of life improvements to the game. The most recent ones are a pleasure to play because of a more finely tuned UI experience.

As a big fan of the series I prefer 1 by a lot. It has a more interesting plot and better/funnier characters. The first game was also remastered on Switch and PS4 though, that version has the updated graphics style they started using in the fourth game.

The more things change the more they remain the same. I am playing some of the Japanese SNES RPG games from the mid 1990s that came out at the end of the SNES life cycle and never made it to the US and they seem to match the games in these bundles. Thankfully dedicated fans have made English translations of these games such as Tales of Phantasia, Star Ocean, and Densetsu 3 (Secret of Mana 2) . The amazing thing is the graphics in these older games (eg, Star Ocean) are not that far behind the graphics I can see in the games in this bundle. Yet the gameplay in these older RPGs is very sophisticated (eg, the plot itself changes depending on who you choose for your party— so replay is endless) . What is even more amazing is that somehow these older games did all of this with only 2 or 3 MB of code. I have nothing against the games in this bundle but it is hard to see how they can beat these older Japanese SNES RPGs .

The Power Rangers spoof bit was just classic. I'll never forgive the writers for the anime adaption for cutting that scene.

DIsagea 1 has a remake on SWITCH and PS4, with much better QOL improvements

So I recommend DISGAEA 2
