Quote from TheMailmanC :
I'd only lament the fact that the cash-based system teaches kids a number of relevant mathematics skills. I was playing Monopoly this weekend with my niece and nephew who are 4 and 6, and the 6 year old was even teaching the 4 year old some basic math concepts. Things like - it costs $12 but I only have $1, $5 and $20 bills, and I'm out of $10s. So I have to pay with two $5s and two $1s. This would have been lost if they just paid it electronically using their bank balance. I get the speed of play aspect and I realize cash transactions are not commonplace anymore. But, sucks to lose out on learning opportunities. My 2c.

Also, part of the fun of Monopoly IS that it lasts all night and eventually families are torn apart by drunken arguments stemming from someone becoming a ruthless landlord around 8 hours into gameplay. Right?
No reason to lament, if you're buying for younger kids, get the original one. It's not like they're replacing it. They're just offering more options now.

This could be a good teaching aide for slightly older kids who already grasp concepts like counting money to help them apply the concepts in a more abstract way (money is not physically in their hands; more math needs to be done in their heads) that's more relevant to how most of us budget and pay our bills.

Never understood why people get upset about having more options.

Was about to buy it but noticed that it's a smaller board (less properties). Not saying it's a bad thing but for me it was a deal breaker.
TU though for a good deal!

What's the fun in this?? Half the fun of playing Monopoly is flipping the board when you hit someone's Boardwalk with a hotel and watching all the pieces and money go flying (here's looking at you Arthur Spooner RIP) 😂😂

While skipping the cash eliminates the math skills you pick up with the original version.... I do like the electronic banker idea. Because my father was always the banker and he cheated like a wall street exec. I didn't catch on until I was a teen and caught him doing it. My stepmom chimed in that he always cheated so I should be used to it by now. Also discovered they cheated when we played cards too, they always had me sit in the same spot... with a window behind me so they could see the card reflections.

I never played another game with those hosers. Yep, childhood... good times...

if your only motivation for getting an electronic banking system for your monopoly is speeding up the game, try using poker chips instead of the traditional Monopoly money

My wife and I played this version with another couple. I'm big into the boardgame hobby and was hesitant approaching Monopoly given my childhood bias. She is not into the hobby. We all still had a good time playing this. +1 for a good time.

Our kids will likely never use cash at all in their adult life.

Reduced from $25. Lowest price on CCC. Free shipping with Prime.

Quicker to play than the traditional Monopoly game. The Monopoly Super Electronic Banking board game features an all-in-one electronic banking unit. Each player has a bank card that will earn them different rewards for gameplay: roll a certain number, land on a certain space, or purchase a particular property. Players can also choose to fly to any property on the board. There is no paper money in this game -- the cards and banking unit track each player's cash. It's an exciting game as players buy properties, collect rent -- and get rewarded for it! The player with the most money at the end of the game wins.

So this is why it takes longer to get cash back at stores and everyone has major credit card debt...
