Once they give out a bunch of these gift cards and secure the number of 5 star reviews that they want, they can make the products even worse than they already are, jack up the prices, and essentially scam people who buy their garbage product thinking it's good, since they will be highly ranked on Amazon.
They count on good old fashioned greed, or at least people being naive enough to not realize what's going on.
But hey, you made a profit of $8 right? So who cares if a few thousand people after you get screwed.
Maybe you don't know about it. Walmart, Home Depot, they all do this. When Walmart sends me some product for free, do you think I am going to give it 2 stars? Or, do you think I will stop buying from Walmart or HD? I believe companies pay to establish a name for products that they are confident about. Not everything in this world is working in a cynical way.

I don't doubt that even reputable companies resort to giving away free products to establish reviews for a new product or whatever, but asking someone to leave an impartial review is different than asking someone to leave a 5 star review.
Genuinely impartial reviews help consumers make informed decisions and also help companies identify and work out issues with their products, if they actually care about that sort of thing.
If you feel the need to give a 5 star review for a product, simply because you got it for free, then ideally, you would make that clear in your review. Also, it means that you're probably not well suited for those kind of programs because you care more about the possibility of receiving more free products in the future than you do about genuinely reviewing the product.
I can't speak to Walmart or Home Depot, but when it comes to these Amazon sellers, I know first hand that they ask for a 5 star review because I'm part of a few discord groups where sellers post their products from Amazon and eBay and advertise that you get 100% refund after 5 star review. I've also purchased and later returned products that came with cards advertising refunds or gift cards for a 5 star review.
Personally, I don't take part in those offers because I don't like the idea of screwing over people down the road in exchange for a free crappy product but there are more than enough people who don't care about that kind of stuff.
In for 1. Paid $3 for 3 year Assurion Warranty so $16 with tax. Kids will be happy and for $3, guaranteed to get replaced once if needed. Thanks for the SD, OP!
I bought two of these about a year for playing Sea of Thieves with my son. Both had a bad echo on pc. One also had terrible feedback. I returned it and left a poor review. The company reached out to me and sent a free pair. They urlhasbeenblocked weren't great. I occasionally get the echoing even after extensive research on windows settings. I believe it has to do wirh their 7.1 settings. Which really don't work well. But you can't just unplug it and use it without the adapter. I paid $30 for them and it was iffy on value. At $12 they might be ok as a backup, but if you're looking for great quality, look elsewhere.
I've been curious about the whole "virtual surround sound" thing. Understanding that the audio quality in general will be non-audiophile, does the virtual surround still work well on a cheap set like this?
I don't need another set of headphones, yet I just bought this, what's wrong with me???
Shipped by Amazon, so if it's garbage I will return it and leave a bad review. I WILL NOT take $20 to leave a 5 star review unless I really believed it was a 5 star product, and would gladly turn it down to leave an honest bad review. All you who said you'd take the $20 and give 5 stars makes it worse for the rest of us making it so we can't rely upon reviews...
These are surprisingly comfortable and sound okay for gaming if you are a casual gamer. The biggest issue I had is after a year or so the material on the ear covering will start to fall apart.
If it wasn't for that I would actually still be using them.

I'm hoping it'll drive my SHP9500's pretty well while being able to use the simulated 7.1 in Windows for gaming.
Thats the exact same reason I'm getting it for too. How do you like the SHP9500?
