Refurbished Dyson HP01 Pure Hot + Cool Desk Purifier, Heater & Fan $179.99 + FS

I think it should be mentioned in every one of these Dyson threads that these things aren't really air purifiers. Check out wirecutter or consumer reports for reviews. If you want a fancy wifi heater/fan, that's fine just don't think this will replace a dedicated air purifying unit like the blue air or winix deals that popup from time to time.

How does this compare to those Winix purifiers?

In 2019, we tested two of Dyson's latest-generation air purifiers, Pure Cool TP04 and Pure Hot+Cool HP04. Of them, the TP04 performed better, but neither measured up well against our top pick, the Coway AP-1512HH Mighty, and our large-space pick, the Blueair Blue Pure 211+. On its highest setting, the TP04 reduced particulate pollution by 86.6% in 30 minutes; compare that with 98.9% and 99.3% from the Mighty and the Blue Pure 211+, respectively. On medium—which we set as fan speed 6 of the 10 speeds available—the TP04 managed just 74.4% reduction. The Coway and Blueair scored 87.6% and 99.2%, respectively. The Dyson Pure Hot+Cool HP04, which incorporates a space heater as well as a purifier, in theory should have performed somewhat better than the TP04 because it can move a slightly greater volume of air. But in our tests it performed significantly worse, achieving just 77.4% and 55.1% reduction on its highest and medium (speed 6) settings, respectively. We cannot recommend either Dyson purifier, especially given their high price relative to those of our much higher-performing picks. We have also found no evidence that the machines' fan function, as Dyson claims, makes them superior to other purifiers in the distribution of filtered air throughout a room. In fact, our years of testing have shown that any appropriately sized purifier will distribute filtered air evenly, into the farthest corner of a room.

Although its controls are easy to use, the praise stops there for this Dyson. In fact, it's one of the lowest-rated air purifiers CR has tested. Most disappointing is the machine's low-speed particle removal performance, which is rated Poor. It's not much better when running at its highest speed, and it's relatively noisy on that setting to boot.

Very poorly. All of the Dyson air purifiers get extremely poor ratings from CR and Wirecutter. If you need an air purifier go for a Blueair, Winix, Honeywell or Coway.

Dyson HP02 is just HP01 with the Link app and +$100 price tag
Obviously, HP04 is the best Dyson air purifier, HP01 and HP02 don't even come close.

Actually, all of my links are for fan/purifiers. The TP01 is their tall tower fan/air purifier. Check out the wirecutter page if interested, I've already included a relevant quote that should give you a good idea of the quality of air purification this hp01 unit would produce.

Quick google search tells me the HP04 is actually supposed to be their top space heater unit for air purification, so this HP01 would likely test far worse.

Both Consumer Reports and Wirecutter rank all Dyson fan/purifiers & fan/heater/purifiers extremely poorly in terms of how well they actually purify the air in the space around them. This includes the TP02 unit you have. I've never used any of these units so I have no opinion on how well they work as fans or heaters.

I don't think any consumer unit like this can be both a dedicated air purifier and a fan, you run into an airflow issue.

The Dyson site lists the TP02 having a max airflow of 410 l/s ( 870 cfm )

There is also a spec sheet listing the unit as having a CADR rating of 70cfm.

So even if the TP02 had the greatest air filter in the world, less than 10% of the units airflow is even passing through the filter when set to max speed.

The popular Blue Air Pure 211+ for example has a max CADR rating of 350
