I have 4 of the 8220's, 3 for hobby work and one dedicated to Great Dane nails. The battery is still a weak point in these, but it is the best out there in the "cordless rotary tool" space, IMO. Also, the generic cheapo replacement batteries you can buy on Amazon are actually better performers than the battery that comes from Dremel.
thanks. horrible reviews on amazon (sorted by "most recents") on the battery.

The 8220 isn't new. The 8100 is just a lesser model, most notably only 8v battery instead of the 8220's 12v... which is why it costs less. The two are not comparable products.

What is the proper Dremel model I should use for using with human/dog nails? Or would this work?

This is has been this price for quite some time. There was an earlier post for the 4v. The 8100 is referred in the helpful comments. https://slickdeals.net/share/ipad_app/fp/633107

As someone stated earlier, the 8220 is a better version but it's $96. The 4v is underpowered but comes with accessories and is reliable. The 8100 seems to be a crapshoot.

Been using a Dremel to do the dogs' nails for a long time. After a few untimely Dremel deaths, I decided to try the 8 volt Tacklife from Amazon for ~ $35 after doing some research. Great reviews - 4.6 - great power for a rechargable, but I still have a120 volt for the heavy-duty tasks. Pretty pleased so far. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product...=UTF8&th=1

A little off-topic, but thanks for the discussion, y'all. I've purchased two Dremels over the years... more recently (2017), a Dremel 4000, which is a corded model.

My first Dremel I seem to have lost the tool for (somewhere around the house), but the charger for it says Dremel 4.8V Charger. The battery is actually still in the charger, and it's Part # 755-01. Wish I could find the tool, or even remember which cordless Dremel this battery and charger go to. Lol

Have been trying to decide whether I should just buy another cordless Dremel, or wait around hoping to find the tool. I know as soon as I buy a replacement, the damned thing's gonna turn up.
