As an avid DIYer I have thousands of dollars worth of power and hand tools at home and still purchased these to throw in the trunk. No, it will not be used for car repairs - with new cars I don't expect many. I will not be building a house or repairing a washing machine with this. But if I'm visiting a friend who has no tools and her lamp breaks I will be able to repair it with these tools.

For all the high and mighty people disparaging the concept and bragging how it is beneath them to use these tools, do you always use a ceramic mug for drinking coffee? Do you always use fine China and silverware for eating dinner? No - I'm sure you have used disposable utensils many times. Do you pack silverware in your trunk for when you go to a fast food joint or are you happy using plastic and paper?

Both types have their utility and making fun of these tools or the people buying them (for $9!!! - we're not talking about at MRSP of $40) is more a sign of ignorance and haughtiness than anything else.

The vast majority of people who are purchasing these are purchasing them as essentially disposable tools, for one time, maybe two, maybe ten times use, and primarily for convenience when they don't have access to or really don't need to go to the garage or toolshed to get their regular tools.

And actually for many people these tools will work for their basic home repairs - they're not doing anything more complicated than perhaps replacing an outlet or tightening a hinge screw and this will work fine for that.
He never mentions "auto mechanics" once. He said it's something to keep in your car. Just like a blanket, bungy chords, cargo straps, first aid kit, etc. I've had a tape measure in my car forever and I've needed it dozens of times.
I've owned this set for a while. It's junky and cheap, but for $8.95... it's well worth picking up and tossing in the trunk of each car.

Yep same here, you never know when you really needed during road side break down. I have some set awhile back, never used sat in the car for awhile and start getting rusty don't know why.

I got the identical set years ago on clearance at Radio Shack, and it's great for what it is. I keep mine upstairs in a closet and I no longer have to fetch tools from the garage just to do simple tasks like hanging pictures, rewiring a lamp, and so on.

There's only a couple tools included in this set which could apply to auto mechanics and the ones that might work will frustrate you and/or hurt your knuckles before actually accomplishing anything.

You must be a shill.
He literally called it junky and cheap. What a great shill!

You keep editing your post to get more zingers in though, you'll come up with a good one soon.

Just throwing money away. What would you use with this set on a car when it breaks down? The wrench is to small, maybe the pliers? Pliers aren't really going to help you on their own. Save your money.

I have a couple of these - one in a drawer at work, and one in a drawer at home. They're not "real" tools, obviously, but for quick jobs, they come in handy. Also none have broken so far, though the grips have loosened on the pliers. I'm no "shill", but for less than $9, they should easily make their money's worth. You can't even get a toy set for this price.
