Now that you mentioned it, I didn't realize that I kept changing the battery every 4 months instead > 6 months.
I was used to having detectors that I hardly ever got the beep on. These things at least twice a year. My dog hates it!
Battery only. And not interconnected as these are supposed to be connected to a z-wave hub that should have a way to alert you (a siren, notification, etc)
I have these and have been happy so far. I change the batteries every 6 months. I've always have been doing it like this and just continued doing it with these as I expected more energy consumption.

My understanding is that you have to set guard manually to away and home as you come and go.

I believe it's mandated to have wired/interconnected detectors for smoke detectors to pass township inspection especially when you sell your home.
This varies by state/towns. In my state you only need to have working smoke/CO detectors when you sell.
I have mine registered with the town as I have professional monitoring and they were ok with them.

Thanks..good to know, my township is probably too strict. I would like to switch to Z-wave based detectors ASAP but might have to wait when the wired interconnected ones come on sale or my township update their rules in favor of new technology especially when everything is going wireless.

How did you register them with town?
