The main thing is the length of the cords. Short on one side and a bit longer on the other since the headphone jack is on one side. With normal headphones you would have to do some cable management.
Anyone know how these are different than 'normal' in-ear headphones? Is there anything that makes these special for Oculus?
There are prescription lenses available for the quest 2.

One other question to throw out there... BLUETOOTH HEADPHONES... Work on no?

I see some are saying to much lag... others saying they work flawlessly with better wireless units like Samsung buds and Apple.

Was there a firmware update that fixed the sync issues or is this still an ongoing issue... hence the deal posted above?

No native support. You have to use a dongle and some of those are too laggy. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong of course.

Wonder if these would work with the PlayStation VR Headset as well? https://static.slickdealscdn.com/ima...cratchhead.gif
Yes they would. It's just a headphone jack.

Yes, Bluetooth headphones work. I have AirPods set up though I rarely use them. I think they added BT support a while after launch.

I stand corrected. It's an experimental feature. I'll have to give it a shot. Thanks for the info.

Bluetooth headphone support is there but the lag is pretty bad since the headset doesn't support aptx.

As far as the spacer.. Are you referring to that optional kit that can be ordered. I literally haven't reopened the box since day one... forgot if a spacer was included in the box. Either way, I'm going to try that as I REALLY wanted this to work out.
It comes with a spacer. It is tiny, and snaps onto the headset before the facial interface. It provides a few more mm's of clearance.

You can get prescription inserts through several places. Most are $60-$80 depending on prescription. Zenni is cheapest... they sell a pair of prescription eyeglasses for $10 (or $20/$35 if you need thin lenses due to heavy prescription), and then you can take the lens out and put them in 3D printed adapters. Google Zenni Quest 2 for more specific info.

The in built sound is surprisingly good. I didn't expect to enjoy it as much as I do.
Quest 2 is one of the worst when it comes to multiplayer. The microphone picks up all the sounds from the speakers. Having earbuds prevents your teammates from hearing every sound from your speakers.

Quest 1 was not nearly as bad as the Quest 2.

If you plan to play mutliplayer games on the Quest 2, do everyone a favor and get earbuds or a headset.

I wouldn't necessarily call it a gimmick, as the short cord serves a meaningful purpose to some... but yes, in terms of sound quality, unless there is some special Oculus related performance tweaks that I'm not aware of, they are more than likely just average earbuds IMO.

I recently reasearched headphones for the Oculus, and these on ear Koss headphones had rave reviews... not just from VR folks, but from audiophiles as well. Only $18, and you can get 3D printed holders, or rig them up without adapters.

Here's the Amazon link... the first review explains a fairly easy mod that apparently makes them sound even better:

https://www.amazon.com/Koss-KSC75...B0006B486K

Here's a reddit comment from someone who is using them with a VR headset... check out all the discussion in that thread... the first comment explains a method to attach them without an adapter.

As far as cheap earbuds, these VE Monk Plus buds popped up a lot when I was researching them. They are apparently really high quality, according to a lot of audiophile comments I read, and cost less than $10.

Here's a thread about these earbuds:

I'm sure the OP earbuds sound great, and are probably more than sufficient, but again, I doubt they are anything special in terms of sound quality.

Yea, I found out last night that the code didn't work because my wife had already surprised bought them for me when she saw the push notification. Totally beat me to it, she's awesome. Smilie
