It's thinner. Furthermore, you can easily find laptops with removable RAM. Also, no ATX desktop uses soldered RAM.

Wife got a yoga 6 with similar specs and similar price. For normal office use it works well, haven't noticed a ram issue unless a browser tab gets a memory leak or something.
