For what it's worth, I've been very happy with Colombia. They've been my primary winter/ ski jacket for 30 years. I think they make one of the best winter coats, their gloves are pretty nice too. I usually go with the 3 in one interchange jackets and gloves if that matters.

Good for Maybe running from your vehicle into a store. Not good for being outdoors all day. I bought columbia rain jackets in the past for fishing and they always leaked. So now I spend the money on premium Goretex rain gear.

Man, thats faaaar off from my experience with Columbia. Theyre one of the best Ive dealt with honestly. Pre covid... I had a problem with leaky rain gear. They had me send it to them. They sent back a gift card for about twice what I paid for it. In a separate occasion, my daughter's $140 boots leaked. They took them back over a year later. Same thing, sent a gift card for their site. Was it overnight? No. Maybe Covid slowed things up for them like with every other company. Just have to be patient as life gets back to normal as the plandemic fizzles away. Overall, theyre normally a top notch outdoor clothing company. I wouldnt hesitate to buy from them. Just steer away from their rain gear for being in serious rain for long periods of time. Their clothing is usually excellent! Trust me, I'm a hard core outdoorsman and fisherman.

Got this rain coat in a small and it fits me well in the sleeves and circumference (whatever that measurement is), but at 5'9 I notice that the jacket falls below my waist and doesn't appear to fit height wise.

Does anyone know if this is functional or if it's just the wrong fit? (It's not a big and tall... and come to think of it, it fits similar to my Columbia ski coat - which I figured must be long for functionality... now I wonder...)

Longer rain coats give you more protection. If you think about it, if the coat is longer than the top of your pant pockets, it'll help keep the rain out and keep pocket contents drier. My fishing rain gear consists of a longer coat and bib pants. The "overlap" protection is very good. If you bend over or whatever, a good overlap protects you from the rain better. Nobody needs rain washing down their drawers.
