I can understand this: they used to be great, back when they were all made in San Francisco. They went corporate, and the last one I bought - a few years back - I sent back.

Nice find. Can the straps be tucked in to carry horizontally? Because if not they kinda dangle around...
No, they don't tuck.

Have this bag. One thing I don't like is that it's hard to set it upright in ground, keeps tipping forward. Otherwise no complaint. Solid bag.
Agree with this.

I have the bag and it is light and well made. Some of the pockets took a little while to figure out but now I really like it. The bottom zip-pocket it really handy to store the power brick and mouse. A steal at this price.

I've owned 3 Timbuk2 bags, only because my employer gave them as gifts, and let me be the first to say they suck. All 3 were different models. You're paying for a name brand because functionality is horrendous. Its not an ugly bag, but msrp is a joke for these. My dakine backpack was $25 on Amazon and it blows my 3 Timbuk2 out of the water

which dakine bag did you purchase?

Used to be on the timbuk2 bandwagon. They've really gone downhill. Last couple bags were sent back.

Ended up buying this blemished Burton bag from the-house and it somehow wiped the floor with the timbuk2 travel bags I had tried, and for $65 - coupons lol

Looks like this bag is from 2014 judging from when this product video was put out... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SMPmSTVif0o

Don't know how long after these were introduced did they stop making them to start making the 2.0 version. Hopefully if these bags are from 2016'ish the latest maybe they're still in the non crappy quality time frame.

It looks like a deal. I am a little bit worried whether this is a good choice for Mac. Waiting for more comments about its quality.

+1 had this as a work bag many years back, carried it with a 5 pound T520 on more flights then I can remember. I'm sure it would handle any modern 3-4 pound laptop just fine.

Just bought another one to use up some REI dividends. Very slick deal at this price.

I have the same model but in Red. It works really well and I love the padding inside for laptops. There's also a small pocket at the top for small things like keys and pens.

People who love timbuk2 understand that timbuk2 is one of first names for using recycled materials, recycling bags, and repairing those recycled bags to donate to people in need.
I have had 3 different timbuk2 bags (tuck pack, proof laptop, commute messenger) and I think they are durable.
Depends what you value. This price is a good deal for timbuk2, not too slick. Timbuk2 website runs flash sale every 3-4 month.
