I add garlic, butter, Italian sausage, and a few seasonings to make it BUENO!
If you are unable to take advantage of this offer or want a better product, Walmart sells Newman's Own pasta sauce for $1.68 per jar. It's cheap, it's far better quality than Prego or Ragu, and they donate 100% of the profits to charity.
I'm not here to criticize what people eat. However if you did that same exact thing to plain can of crushed tomatoes it'd probably taste better and be cheaper most of the time

Yep! As is is fine by me, but I do tend to load up store bought sauces with other goodies (garlic, onion, spices, maybe a bit of red pepper flakes) if I have the time to simmer it.

Isn't this stuff basically a can of crush tomatoes with seasoning already added in?

Hmmm...you might be onto something. I keep buying the Prego mushrooms and end up adding a ton of veggies anyway. Might just have to try the plain tomato sauce route.

Thanks, OP! I love Prego. I was also low on pasta, so I was able to get a few of those, too.

Thumbs down to everyone complaining about a $1 jar of pasta sauce.
if you don't like it, why are you even reading this thread?!?

This is a pretty decent deal for this pasta sauce. Roasted Garlic & Herb was my go-to for this brand.
After trying Rao sauce, hard to go back. It costs a pretty penny, but so worth it.

The idea behind this is the price and convenience. You won't be finding enough tomatoes at this time of year to make 24 oz of spaghetti sauce for $2

Hence why I said "in a pinch." And didnt mean making sauce out of fresh tomatoes...meant using good canned tomatoes. HEB has (or had)Cento 28 oz cans for 1.99, those are good enough for me when I'm down for making sauce.
