I work at Lowe's on the merchandising team. We have a product reset in just a couple of weeks that will see Flex become much more prominently placed. They will give it half a display run and an endcap to try and showcase the tools alongside DeWalt, Craftsman, and Kobalt.
I'm with you. I hope they can deliver in the promises they are making but I'm hesitant. Lowe's is pushing hard for contractor business and a big part of that is offering the tools that contractors want. That's the driving force behind this shakeup and the XTR line of Kobalt. I'm keeping an eye on tool review channels on YouTube to see these Flex tools go head to head with more established brands. Hopefully they will end up being able to justify their price tag because, if you judge it on price alone, Flex seems to think they are already the real deal.
To echo what others have said, I've loved my Jorgensen clamps. Irwin's heavy duty bar clamps are great but their basic clamps are just not durable enough for lots of activity and use. Harbor freight clamps are cheap but you can only use them for certain things because the durability and strength just aren't there. At the end of the day, I've made room on my clamp wall for all kinds of clamps. I even have the tiny, weak Tekton finger clamps up there because I never know when a couple of them will solve a tiny problem. If you don't have cheap clamps, it's ok to have some. If you don't have nice clamps, it's ok to spend up. Having a variety of options will help extend the life of your nice clamps and give you better options to tackle different jobs.
Irwin and Bessey are on my 💩 list!

They fallen so far in quality the past few years. For clamps like this, harbor freight has this one for$3ish and the 24 inch for $6ish . Sadly, these are just as good now, (in some cases better) than the Irwin and/or Bessey (especially Bessey... 😢 ).

So for me, these are a good deal in perspective price compared to its msrp... but they've disappointed me far too often. And it doesn't matter how good the deal is if the product fails a lot.

** I currently have over 100 clamps right now, and it's not enough for me since I'm a pretty busy woodworker and I only have 1 functioning arm and leg. So I need clamps 90% of the day/night. They are my artificial 2nd arm. So I am tough on them and use them a lot. And sadly, a lot of clamps have fallen. And like tools, usually different brands have their good/bad products, so I buy different brands all the time but almost everything Irwin and Bessey make has plummeted. Jorgensen was falling a bit, but evened out.. and they could go either way. Then there are clamp companies that make perfection... but they know it, so a clamp like this will cost ya... but everyone should own at least 2 amazing clamps.
A little less when you consider the nutrition they provided me 🤡🤡🤡

That was a good one though. Simple, yet, tastefully done. Lol. Few can give a good zinger to a stranger and balance it properly as to test the waters.

Luckily, I'm bat💩 crazy as well.

Several others were 50% off on Lowes site. Grabbed what I could but they went fast.

What clamp brands do you recommend. Like best of best and then best bang for buck sort of thing.

I'm not the person you replied to, but I use parallel clamps for furniture making. Bessey's KBody and Irwin's parallel clamps are pretty decent. They're pricey but they're beefy and stand up to abuse pretty well. I've several brands and hold them all in similar regard.

For other stuff where I can have a little slop I don't hesitate to reach for my bevy of harbor freight bar clamps (avoid harbor freight quick grip style clamps at all costs). Some folks may tell you that you can get harbor freight a parallel clamps and reinforce them with wood in the channel and they're great, but they still don't really hold a candle to legitimate parallel clamps.

You'd probably also want to equip yourself with some 1/2" or 3/4" pipe clamps and get yourself some varying lengths of pipe - probably 6' and 8' for those bigger glue-ups those other clamps aren't long enough for.

My .02 as a hobbyist/weekend warrior with a pretty well-equipped wood shop.

Several Lowes in western PA have had no Irwin clamps left in stock for months now. One Manager said lowes is dropping Irwin from in store items, and replacing it all with Jorgensen.

But for $6, the OP bar clamps are nice little clamps that have pretty strong clamping pressure. Definitely worth it and definitely good to have a few of these laying around. Thanks OP

Man, I remember the Bessey purge Lowes did years ago. I made out like a friggin bandit on that stuff.

What's with Lowes and their inability to partner with a clamp maker long-term?

And whomever thumbed this down... come'on... it was a good one.

Now, if he knew I actually still had my left arm/leg , and that they are just limp flesh covered skeletons, he could've had more to work with, and make a GREAT burn. But he didnt... so all things considered, at least be indifferent in rating it. A 👎 rating is what you give to a heavily edited ABC Sunday Night Movie version of "Showgirls". Not a good zinger like that.

Yeah, it's true. Jorgensen is Lowe's new clamp team. And for Lowe's it's a huge win since Jorgensen is much better than Irwin in terms of clamps.

However...

Irwin was great before Lowe's got them... so this could be the death rattle for Jorgensen if the Lowe's curse remains.

(I'm worried for the people buying the new Lowe's power tool line... Lowe's is spending the right money in marketing it, but a year from now, the problems will arise, and it'll drop to Rigid level. But that's just my observation of history repeating itself.)
