Bought it. Not sure why I need it. I don't even have a USB C Connector.
This was my conclusion when I wasted time hunting a couple months ago:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07CQD6M5B/
Any chance you can tell us what chipset/bridge is used in that aluminum enclosure? I am seeing that both of these in the OP should have a ASM235CM chipset which is supposed to be superior to the typical ASM1153E or JMicron chipsets however according to some reviews on Amazon and a few other places, some are saying the company/manufacturer is being deceptive and actually putting ASM 1153E chipsets instead of the superior one advertised.

Probably overthinking the whole bridge/chipset thing but I want whatever enclosure I get to be fully compatible with Mac, Linux, and Windows even if it costs a little more or if its not on sale. I heard about some enclosures even with the ASM 1153E having issues with Linux/Mac and not supporting certain features I want like UASP support and support for SMART/TRIM. Anyone who can give some provide some advice on this would help me out big time considering I've looked at many options and always seem to find conflicting information about whats the best enclosure for a 2.5" hard drive.

Thanks, had the plastic model in cart forever and finally bought, yay for USB C. Can't stand those USB micro-B connectors on enclosures, always fail for me.

I have the USB-c aluminum case and it's terrific. Premium look and both metal and plastics are silky to touch. Zero connection issues.

Same here. Didn't need it yet and was just keeping it in the cart waiting for it to go on sale again.

I have a very old Mac that I am planning on upgrading. It has a few external firewire drives that I'm assuming aren't supported anymore. I read you can take the HDs out and put into enclosures like these? Assuming if I get a new Mac Mini, the USB-C version will work? Any help is greatly appreciated Smilie.

From a MacOS comparability perspective, these work great! I migrated my iMac from an internal Fusion drive to an external SSD inside the metallic version of the UGreen enclosure. Good speeds. No issues so far (about 2 months).

The other thing to figure out is whether the FireWire drives you have are SATA or not. They would need to be SATA drives for these enclosures to work.

Also, are they 2.5" or 3.5" drives? 3.5" won't fit in the enclosures listed in this deal. I believe UGreen has 3.5" enclosures available though.

Is it possible you have the power management in low energy mode? I had to switch my Xbox to performance mode to see and format a SSD drive/enclosure. After that, I went back to lower energy mode and it worked perfectly.

What is the read/write speed difference between UGREEN 2.5" hard drive enclosure USB C 3.1 Gen 2 to SATA III [amazon.com] compared to UGREEN 2.5" Hard Drive Enclosure USB 3.0 to SATA III for 2.5 Inch SSD & HDD 9.5mm 7mm External Hard ... [amazon.com]? My computers don't have a USB-C port, but they do have USB 3.0, would I see a difference in speed/perfermance?
