You can also just plug a usb into your base and use local storage. Avoiding the cloud fee program. Took me less than 5 minutes to setup.

Free cloud storage went away back in 2020. If you already have an existing system you can add these cameras to an existing account and continue to get free storage. If you have never had an account you will have to pay for cloud storage. It's $5 per camera a month or $100 for up to ten cameras if you pay an entire year upfront.
They should give you free Cloud Storage if you have an Amazon Prime account, already pay a fortune for that now they want to charge additional for cloud storage?

I bought 2 of these brand new in 2019 for the same price. Not sure how 2 used ones at this price are a good deal. Granted when I bought them it was an Amazon deal of the day, but still... 2 years later, and used?

For what it's worth, I've not been that impressed with the interface. I also have worked with Eufy, Nest, and Ring cameras, and they are all superior. I still keep these around because they were cheap and easy to install, and the cloud storage is still free for me. If that ever ends, I'll ditch them for something better.

Conflicting info and I am confused.....

I bought 2 of these Blink XT2's in the fall of 2019. Still brand new and sealed. Never signed up for an account nor set them up.

So if I set it up now, no more free cloud? That was the main selling point when I bought them.

A ton of misinformation here. If you buy this XT2 regardless if you already have established an account or not, the 2 hours of cloud storage is free forever. Don't believe me? https://ibb.co/wQmnR73

I have no experience with Eufy or Nest but I prefer Blink over my Ring floodlight cams and doorbells.

No. You still get the free cloud storage.

The same misinformation keeps getting repeated in this thread. XT and XT2 still have 2hrs of cloud storage free. You did not need to sign up by a certain date.

XT2, XT and Indoor (gen 1) cameras receive 7200 seconds of basic could storage per Sync Module, free for life.

People are getting confused because if you add newer models to your system you don't get the free 2hrs the XT and XT2 get unless you signed up by a certain date and get grandfathered in.

You have to be joking. 2 hours to run 8 cables and never touched it since? Sounds like hyperbole. Realistically I assume it took at least 4 hours and you've had to fix things or reset cameras more than once.
Anytime you contradict someone's statement with "I assume" you're arguing from a point of ignorance. NVR is the way to go. I have 5 Camara reolink Poe 8mp system and my experience at my house being a noob took about 4 hours. It all depends on your house layout. Messing with those plastic soffits was a pain since I reniforced them with plywood but not all houses are the same. Maybe 2 hours of research about what an nvr was and how to install it .coming from someone who didn't know anything about security cameras it was pretty easy. I only knew one thing...I would never have my storage on a cloud network. You do you but I'll take little work up front with no cloud fees over someone holding my data to be hacked or used against me in court.

If you are looking to go without fees, I have a bunch of these WiFi systems and tried them all: Blink XT2 (basic free), Eufy (basic free), Arlo (basic free), Defender (totally free, NVR), and several more than didn't make the cut like Amazon Cloud Cam and D Link.

The best WiFi based systems without fees I found were:
This XT2 system and the Arlo Pro 2. I have both set up and just use the Blink now based on the great app, the ease of setup/settings/notifications, and battery life.

If you get your settings correct, the XT2 detection will pick up exactly how much and where you want it to with pretty amazing quality and night vision considering the small size. The batteries last forever as long as you take time to get settings. It has really good detection. If you get the free 2hr account, I challenge anyone to show a better system considering: price, ease of install, quality of camera/app, ease of settings and overall maintenance.

Edit: eufy is probably my pick for fee free indoor cams (powered, not cordless). They are cheap, go on sale a lot, and offer a nice range from HD to 2K. They have very nice detection programs, even recognizes pets. One thing that worries me with them is privacy/safety. Blink I'm less worried about, if there is a serious breach I know Amazon can cover it.

If you do it through USB do you still have access to to the app. Is this set up like the ring system?

Crap cameras. Start dying after a year. Shutter continuously clicks. Unable to reset camera. Started with 3, down to 1. Switching to Arlo

Don't get sucked in by the sales pitch. These things are mediocre at best. You can get better sound, better video (doesn't look 1080p and has purple fringing issues but at least has 30fps), better night vision (only 1 ir light is trash), better features, better mounting in others. The only selling point for these is the free cloud storage. They are seriously outdated. But probably the best of the free cloud options other than a single reolink camera (only 1 cam free)

Yeah people buy these because of the free cloud storage and they function reasonably well. Yes they are mediocre as far as picture quality, but they get the job done. The price/performance ratio is quite good. If you pay $10 a month cloud storage that's $120 a year. That's more than what two of these cameras cost.

I think if you use them inside a protective enclosure and/or have them mounted in a place where they aren't so directly exposed to the elements as well as how severe is the weather is where you live could affect longevity, but just a guess. Not everyone's blinks are dying at a year.

That's what i read. I haven't tried it.

If adding Blink Indoor and Outdoor cameras to an existing Blink system that has been activated on or before 4/15/20, you will be grandfathered into your current free cloud storage model in the Blink app.
