Let's say the thing needs warranty work, how does one send it in?

You don't, a service tech comes to your house. If need be, they take it to their shop. I had my 2017 OLED serviced 3 times this way.

65" e6

Nope! I have a 65" e6 bought back in 2016, used almost every day and no burn-in after all these years.

it's been this price for a while now

also, that's not how gift cards work. it doesn't reduce the price of the item, at all.

Would you go Sony OLED, QLED, or ...?

So y all day for movies, sports and tv shows. Specially the new model has 2.1 hdmi.
I would pass on qled. The black colors are not as deep.

Sounds like they're confusing OLED with Plasma? This might be the first time I've heard some complain of OLED burn in. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

No. Burn-in is real on oled, it's just exaggerated and due to user error. Google the Rtings oled one-year burn-in test.

User error.
I've got a 4 yr old 55" lg oled and a 2 yr old 65" lg oled. ZERO burn in.
I second this, my first 55' OLED is over 6 years old - zero burn in. Plenty of hours watching CNBC (little static box on the bottom right).

I am replacing it with a 65" GX and have little to no concern over burn in.

All this talk of burn in on OLED's is amusing to me as it was the same thing 10-15 years ago with plasma. Meanwhile here I am now with my ten year old plasma and STILL no burn in. User error every time with burn in.

Casual watcher of TV. 2-4 hours a day maybe. No video games with static images on the screen. Only show I watched everyday with a static image was Pardon the Interuption on ESPN. After two years of owning it, the image retained almost everything and got worse with multiple layers on the bottom right of the screen (NBC logo, TLC logo, Nickelodeon logo). LG would not cover burn in so I'm stuck with the image retention until I get a new TV, which will not be another LG oled.
I'm starting to wonder if the primary people that run into this are explicitly cable tv users. Pretty much every streaming service will intermittently (during commercials or title switches) have full-screen pixel action, to black screen at least. I can't think of a streaming service/app that preserves tickers etc all the time, and I've definitely had no problems, used to be afraid of falling asleep with the oled on but it's perfectly fine after 3 years of use. Same thing with the logos, that dirty stuff doesn't even happen on the streaming apps (I assume in the case of TLC anyways)

LG has stated themselves that burn-in is a cumulative effect and not caused by constant use. 500 hours of use is 500 hours of use, whether it is 500 1h sessions, or 1 500h session.

given that, it would be extremely hard to believe that this isn't minimized by now. if anything, just get a warranty.

OLED burn in exists whether you want to believe it's a problem or not. I have a first generation LG OLED that LG was nice enough to reimburse me for the burn in, outside the warranty window. We continue to use it as our primary TV and have gotten used to it.

LG has made improvements in the software in newer models that seems to make it less of an issue. We will eventually replace it with another OLED but will purchase an extended warranty just incase.

So how do I have two different 3 year old OLED's both with zero burn-in?

What is your logic here..? Because you don't have burn-in, other people can't have it?

Hate to TC but given the amount of money this is, video only has them for about $2600 depending on your negotiation. I bought the cx but at 2600 it's a solid saving.

This is the GX, which has certain features for those who specifically want it over the CX (far field voice control, next gen tuner, no-gap wall mount, better speakers).

Btw, all of the Video Only stores in California are sold out of the CX, don't know about other states.
