The promo popped up on the page immediately after it loaded and even the code itself was presented to me after entering my email, in addition to receiving the email with the code.
I went with another reconditioned phone and it worked.
Order processing at the moment so I'll order an rsim and other accessories after it ships.
I tried several times over 2 days with different browsers, clearing cache etc. One time there was an automatic discount (no email). But tried to get it to repeat.....it never did.
So I tried another device changing zip code to another city close to me, and it worked somehow, then changed it back to correct zip..it all worked with the email deal.
There is also a "CART15" code that I found that would work if email one does not. that I tested.
I know that their system, like all other companies that offer these deals have no consistency and always could have changes/glitches etc at any moment for no reason.

I removed the Total Wireless SIM before even booting the phone up. Booted up without a SIM inside, set everything up, put in the R-SIM with my T-Mobile SIM, and then the menu came up to enter the ICCID (found online). Entered the ICCID, then restarted. Phone was good to go after that.
Here is a good video to show how to do this-

You probably know by now but just in case, yes it works.

I know this is an old thread but this phone retails brand new for $400 and they're giving $800 credit for a used one?
