There have been a couple helpful posts on this model already but I thought I'd add this one because of the convenience of ordering through Amazon. This model (DCS356C1) is currently showing delivery between May 29 and June 6. This date and price may fluctuate by day so keep checking back regularly. If you don't want to wait, you can call Lowe's like I did and get them to price match and deliver it to you sooner.

The 20v platform yes its all compatible although I wouldn't recommend running the heavier tools like chainsaw or high torque impact on the smaller batteries since runtime will be terrible and you lose some oomph. They have flexvolt 60/20 batteries that are backwards compatible so they can run 20v tools (although for something like this tool it would be absolute overkill) but they have a 60v max system that requires the flexvolt battery. Those are generally larger tools. They also have a 40v line that is now defunct so avoid that.

Carve turkeys.
Cut off bolts and nails flush, sand things, scrape things (like paint, but very quickly compared to by hand)…plunge cut into wood… remove old vinyl flooring, cut sheetrock while it's still on the wall…grout tile quickly, etc.

It basically oscillates a flat blade, saw blade, or sandpaper at a very high speed.

Watch some you tube video on oscillating saw for other ideas.
Thanks! Same price at Home Depot, with quicker shipping!

HD finally back in stock and will ship much faster than Amazon. I wanted the $129.99 with 5ah battery but doesn't look like it will be in stock.

I wanted one for Ridgid batteries I have. But considering this is cheaper and comes with it's battery and charger. Why not?

I'm ready to change platforms into DeWalt... starting somewhat fresh. Should I buy this in starting up, or better if I wait for a kit that has it? Note... I picked up the 1/2" XR impact wrench on the Northern Tool deal, otherwise sitting with nothing yet.
