Great knife, real wood side panel (rosewood I think), super sharp, very good blade metal, and Made in USA!
The heat treat matters more than the steel, for the most part. Properly heat treated 420 is a fine EDC steel and easy to touch up. S30V holds an edge longer, but is much much more annoying to sharpen.
They also have the Buck 119 for $47.63 !

They're great knives that are absolutely a classic, but I'd have to disagree with you on the blade steel. They still use 420HC (what's used on most cheap Chinese pocket knives) on all but their limited run knives. It's not a horrible steel, but there are much better budget steels out now. Get with the times, Buck! That said, I still own one 😝.

Still have and use a Buck folder knife given to me by a Cub Scout troop for help way back in the early 80's. I always buy made in USA knives.

I received this as a groomsman gift (good idea!) and really like it. It's heavy but I have cleaned entire deer it. It is really sharp and one of my favorite knives. I'm not a guru by any means but prefer it to my kershaw flip knife.

Used to love a good Buck for EDC but now I'm so used to Kershaw's SpeedSafe system that I don't think I can give it up!

There's no doubt these are good pocket knives, but I do not recommend buying this to carry.

It's well built, it's capable of being very sharp, and it's thick enough to abuse, but it's very heavy. They sell them with a leather holster that goes on your belt, because they are heavy. It's nearly half a pound at ~7.2 oz. In comparison the knives I like to carry are around 2.2-3.5 oz. In a camping bag or in the car the Buck is wonderful. For me, it's heavier than what I want in my pocket.

For actual carry I'm happier with a more cheaply made CKRT or Kershaw or something like that with synthetic scales. I'd rather have a cheap light knife on my pocket than a well built heavy knife in a drawer at home.

Yeah my buck 110 is an absolute classic, also happens it was passed down from my grandfather, but I wouldn't consider it a good EDC option. I carry and love my benchmade bugout. Field dressed plenty of deer with my buck though.

I've had two of these for over 30 years and never really found a use for them. They're extremely well built but I never really cared for lugging these around.

The knife goes well with a good leather cross draw sheath.

I own a Buck 110 for at least 20 years. They all have a secret date code marking on the side of the blade. You can look it up online to find out what year. Well made.
