"Breville has halogen filaments and splash shields around the filaments"

My last toaster oven had those, too, and I hesitated before buying the Toshiba because it didn't.

But I've found that the plain resistance elements heat about as quickly.

And the splash shields and halogen elements collect nastiness that is impossible to clean. The resistance elements wipe right off.
I bought this from Walmart.com in January. The quality is high and we use it all the time.
PS. Re. Air Fry:

I really can't tell the difference between the convection mode on the Toshiba and the air-fry mode on my oven when I use an air-fry basket in the Toshiba.

We bought this toaster oven in January of this year. We love it so much, and feel it's a good size for us-- not too small, but not too big. We live in a 1bedroom apartment.

this has a convection feature, however it's a cooking type, and not a selection you can turn on or off. My mom and I have gone through 5 BOV800XL's over the past 10 years or so (3 were replaced by breville), but I can't justify spending that much on them anymore despite how much I love them.
If you mean the switch failure... try to find someone in your area who's handy both with mechanical and soldering. It's not extremely difficult but it's not a novice job either and you need extra length screwdrivers, a good amount of work area, desoldering skills, and extra caution working with sheet metal and moving the fiberglass insulation as little as possible because it 'crumbles' if disturbed, for $6 in parts (I got switches off Amazon in a multipack of sizes because buying 6 switches + shipping off DigiKey was going to be 3x the price after shipping) and a set of 24" screwdrivers from Harbor Freight our Breville is working like new again. I found it moderately difficult. It would be easy for someone who does it a lot.

The last one one of the thermal fuses popped and the screen had "grease" in it, I saw a rumor the newer models have more insulation to solve this problem so hopefully changing the switches will give it a new full life cycle.

I am eyeing this Toshiba because I want to work with polymer clay again and don't want to bake in our main toaster oven.

Wow, so many fake positive reviews from people with min. posts on dormant sd accts. Must be desparate to sell this. Just get the Breville or panansonic.

I have this model, and it works well overall. What are good: (1) the interface is very intuitive, (2) it cooks well and fast--I have to set temperature about 10 to 20 F lower than on recipe books when baking, and often with shorter time as well--otherwise it may over bake. (3) it came with several accessories that are useful, a full tray, a wire rack, and a rotisserie assembly, (4) size is quite standard, and not too big and not too small, and (5) seems to be running strong after at least half a year. What are not so good: (1) the convection does not work--I can hear a swirl sound in the convection mode, but I tried with facial tissues and cannot detect any air movement inside, (2) just like others have commented, the crumb tray came as warped--this might be by design though--you can press it down inside the oven and it actually can fit nicely and flat. But removing the crumb tray will definitely cause some crumbs to fly around. So I am not using it to do toasting, but rather mostly baking. (3) The top and left side can get very hot when baking. (4) The baking mode has both top and bottom heating elements on. There is not a true baking mode, in which only the bottom is on.

It has its own share of problems, but for $60, it is definitely worth the money.

Personally, I really like this toaster oven.

I bought it last summer from Amazon at around the same price, and it was a gamechanger. I didn't have a toaster oven at the time, so the functionality blew my mind. My wife and I probably use it at least once a week. Reheated pizza with some fresh basil on top is mind bendingly great.

In terms of build quality, I haven't had any issues at all, let alone with warping or broken glass. I'd imagine that major issues like that would be covered by warranty.

i have one i bought from Home Depot last year. I'd say its pretty good quality. It tends to run hotter in the back and the convection feature is so so because the fan is not that strong so it does not move much air. But it does toast really fast and is great for baking cookies, banana breads and frozen pizzas.

well.. i've never heard of toshiba ever making ovens before.. and i know they sold their NA tv/electronics and some chinese company bought rights to use their brand name

so If i had to guess.. probably junk

that isn't to say you can't get toaster ovens from china... i mean i had one from hamilton beach -- brother liked a toasted sandwich i made with it.. i gave it to him when i moved / he used got a newer hamilton beach one still uses that and gave my old one to a friend and apparently it still works... so ?? 12-13 years of constant toasting sandwiches at least that was what i used it for... i would just caution if there are bad reviews as those are probably real.... and i would trust a subcontractor from china that has been doing toaster ovens for probably the last decade... granted who knows "shrug" Hamilton could of switched subcontractors

bcuz amazon blocks reviews that are real and purchased...

bought a college text book that was advertised "like new condition" one time... the dam thing literally had the whole spine fall apart, had multiple laptop battery reviews that were blocked even though one literally smelled like it was burning inside

... honestly i try to avoid buying anything from amazon nowadays other than maybe digital codes for games considering i think I have had more reviews blocked for "not focusing on the product" as the excuse... when you try to post a textbook that was advertised as like new and "fulfilled by amazon" with a picture showing the whole spine/pages fell out of the hardcover and it was covered with lil sticky notes and say that isn't fair review of the product... yea i don't trust them at all

also.. they tend to bundle reviews of other products with the product... remember seeing someone making a comment about a different model entirely on a headset that was wireless versus a wired one i was looking at the time and was like wtf??? why is this review here, noticed they just bundle similar reviews if they are same brand regardless of what model the product is even on tv's....

The one in Amazon is $5 more after the coupon. The model number seems to be slightly different. Is this any better than the one sold in target?

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B072Q3M...UTF8&psc=1 [amazon.com]
I see some extra accessories on the model with Amazon. Are there any other differences between these? Which one is better?

This just arrived. I plugged it in and instantly heard the persistent mosquito-like whine of cheap/faulty power supplies. The only way to stop it is to unplug it completely. Some Amazon reviews note the same issue.

Target is sold out, apparently, so I'm forced to take the refund route over the replacement.

Seems like a similar one is on sale today at Amazon for 55.69. Since the target description says both 1750 and 1500 watts I suspect it's the 1500
Also target does not list the rotisserie forks as being included but Amazon does. You need to be a prime member to receive free shipping. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B072Q3M...9X59W517RZ

Mine has not yet arrived. I'm planning on buying an air fryer basket with tray and Liner as accessories. Waiting to measure the size of the included tray so I know the exact dimensions to order.
