Currently in the amcrest ecosystem, which I'm not too happy with. Pondering whether to switch to another ecosystem. How does reolink compare with amcrest? One advantage of the reolink so far is being completely wireless.

The only thing Reolink thinks about is designing their cameras to not use a lot of battery power. Mine constantly tells me to switch to fluent mode because the network sucks but I have 1 Gig internet and this just makes them look stupid.

Reolink has less features than Amcrest. I liked the accurate boxes of motion detection. In reolink you just get to draw a max of 3 rectangles for motion. Connectivity on reolink is less reliable, even on low setting. I determined their server to be at fault. The only highlight of Reolink is the solar panels are reliable and kept the things charged at 100%.

However I had to send back reolink products due to defects. Customer service is good but product quality check stinks. Every camera I order from them is a dud after awhile. Once they sent me a new one, everything worked fine.

I was considering this for use with a Synology NAS and Tinycam, but Reolink says that this camera won't work with 3rd party software.

Quote :
All Reolink battery powered cameras don't support ONVIF protocol, RTSP stream, and related communication protocols that third party software requires.
What am I missing?

I want to see the night vision quality of this camera but I can't seem to find an example for this particular camera. It doesn't have "starlight" night vision but does have regular night vision...i really don't know what that means.

Night vision is just ok. Good to see an object up close but no detail. Imagine a small night light plug in a dark room. I have it on some cameras and not on others, where there is already light present.

I think amcrest is excellent. I have several of their cameras on blue iris. dont confuse amcrests main offering with the garbage smart suite of products. its all done through the app, there is no web interface, and many onvif options are missing.
