I did a quick look at some of the specs, and the 5880 base model has a 260w Power Supply vs the 200w on this model.

That should allow for the addition of a very modest dGPU that does not require a dedicated power connection, such as a 1050ti or such.

Overall, they are generally similar and I would probably go with this deal.
If I wanted a dGPU, I would hold out for one of the Dell G15 Gaming deals....They have come in around $550 with a 1650 Super or such.....
Only reason one can get a Desktop directly from Dell if it contains a GPU. Otherwise, search ebay for desktops and you will get far better configuration for less.

Dell inspiron is pretty nice. I have older version and owned for 4 years. Upgraded to SSD and installed 1050 ti. Been working flawlessly with multiple chrome windows, youtube, excel, etc.

Coming from the 9010 optiplex gang. If you can do it do it. Basically I was able to survive on a 1060 till recently. I had to buy weird power adapters and new psus to work with the system. Now I took my time and built a 3080 custom pc and could multiply the value due to scarcity. But If there was a 1060 value like it was at the time I'd say it's worth it. Nobody will tell you but whatever you can afford gpu wise is still prob better than consoles and even if the game tells you how shitty it looks in comparison of what it could be, my 1060 beat my Xbox one x for years until maybe this generation.

This is a good price but check eBay, search by distance, you might find something nearby cheaper if you can pick up. So many sellers shucking GPU's there's a ton of stock out there.

Hahaha a lot of miners/scalpers are STILL buying up these prebuilt dells, shucking out the 3070 and trying to sell the remainder system with this exact spec for $600.

Does this have a standard 24 pin ATX power supply or some proprietary one?

After a little digging I found out it does have a 6 pin power connector instead of a regular 24 pin. Also the physical size/shape of the power supply is off too. Someone on the Dell forums suggested you could buy a 6pin to 24pin adapter and leave the power supply outside the case! EEK!

Hard pass on that! I really hate how all the pc makers now are doing this to keep people from buying their inexpensive model and upgrading it. Not to mention if the power supply died or a surge knocked it out you will have a hard time getting a replacement. Once Dell stops making them or changes the model I can almost guarantee they will not have spare parts available after the last ones warranty runs out.

This is an ok deal for someone who has no plan to upgrade other than extra memory or a low end video card. For me, I would have to pass due to Dell building yet another computer that uses proprietary parts.

Bought one of the i3 variants on their outlet site for $240 back in Feb. Not a bad machine, but as mentioned you can't do much for customization. I added a gtx 1030, nvme and upped it to 16gb ram. And that's it for the system, as it's hamstrung by a anemic power supply that is not standard in the slightest. These are good basic office work machines for the home.
