Is Dolby Vision important? Yes and No.
Yes, it without a doubt is the best implementation of HDR available as it's technically superior to the other formats. It's hardware based and makes numerous adjustments to the TV that many manufacturers don't let you change. The scene by scene or frame by frame metadata on the disc are interpreted by the chip, and are made to try to compensate for the shortcomings of TVs to give the best picture possible to get the closest possible picture to the creators intent.

After reading that I'm sure you're now scratching your head wondering why I would also say it's not important. A few reasons. While it's currently more prevalent than HDR10+, most home releases are also not in Dolby Vision. Speaking of HDR10+, it also offers the dynamic metadata that Dolby Vision provides. It is not hardware based, so it will work the best in Samsung devices but is rolling out on more and more devices. While DV can be mastered to 12bit color, no TV can display it, so they're both limited to 10bit color depth. Dolby Vision also becomes slightly less relevant when considering that most high end TVs have their own tone mapping algorithm to try to provide adjust.ments to standard HDR10 content to further enhance the image quality. Finally, it can only do so much to enhance image quality. If you do a "blind test" of say a Vizio M Series Quantum next to a Samsung Q90R I'd put money down that the majority would prefer the image quality of the Samsung over the Vizio. There's a reason Rtings recommends Samsung over pretty much every other LED despite the lack of DV support.
Won't buy a Samsung until they support Dolby Vision.
I bought a tv from these guys recently and got a cps warranty. They have a horrible reputation online and I hope I never have to use the warranty.

The debate with Dolby Vision seems moot. LG 77" is $3k vs $1.8k on this deal. Yes LG OLED looks more vibrant but not enough to warrant a >$1,200 price difference. If we were comparing both models are regular prices, then DV is worth considering but not for this deal.

That's not a Dolby Vision vs no DV argument, that is a QLED vs OLED argument. Plenty of quality TVs in this price range include Dolby Vision. The question is, why doesn't Samsung?

What are the plenty of TVs that offer Dolby vision at the price? Any off brand tv is no where close, Rtings also rated Q80t as still one of if not the Best LED/LCD tv today…….

Only comparable set is the Sony 950 and that's still more expensive and has no Hdmi 2.1……..

Amazon Prime supports HDR10+ which looks amazing and just as good as Dolby Vision. Yes DV is great, but don't blame Samsung if Netflix doesn't support HDR10+……

i bought a tv from buydig 2 years ago with a CPS warranty. i ended up having to file a claim - CPS sent a tech out. He was at my house for 10 minutes and told me the board was bad. CPS contacted me and said they were giving me the $95 back that i spent on the warranty instead of trying to fix it or replace it because Vizio didn't have that board available any more! it was only after i tweeted about them that they contacted me and said they would work with me if i deleted the tweets. they asked me what i wanted and i told them the purchase price minus two year's depreciation (so like 80% of the purchase price) which they agreed to.

i would HIGHLY recommend not going with this deal if the warranty is a top selling point for you.

Pretty much every TV maker supports it now on their mid to high end sets, with the exception of Samsung. Just them, because they are trying to push their version. Only comparable set, lol. Get out of here fanboy.

Just by the way you use disingenuous arguments show you are the real 🤡.

No one claimed it wasn't an excellent LED TV overall. This whole thread has been about how they don't include the biggest HDR platform, because they are trying to push their own.

I knew you were a fanboy.

lol, and the way I type? Not even sure what you mean, but you with your....... ......... ......... Morse code for something?

The only 🤡 is someone such as yourself continuing to respond in this thread when you have no interest in this product……… 🤔

I own a Hisense H9G, 2 Oleds (A8H, BX) and a Samsung Qled, so maybe I'm a fanboy of great TVs….. 🤷 ♂️

Movie and streaming I prefer the Oleds, gaming the Samsung, simple…..

Stop defending them then. Simply put, I am right. There is no legitimate argument anyone can make for why they choose not to include DV.

Weird that you would prefer the option that includes DV for movies and streaming... hmm wonder why that is? 🤔

Got this TV yesterday. I find if very underwhelming so far. Color is just too saturated. To the point it loses detail. I tried following RTing's guide and it's just not great. I'll have to futz with it to find a sweet spot, but I'm a bit disappointed right now. =\
