Here are my 2 cents for this projector.,

For a dedicated, light-controlled room, you don't want this projector. The TK80OM and TK850M are intended for multi-use rooms with significant ambient light. They had a white segment to the color wheel (RGBW) to increase white lumens, which sacrifices color lumens, color accuracy, and contrast. It's a good projector for a living room, but not for a dedicated theater.

The HT3550 is a much better choice for a dedicated theater. I would definitely think it's worth the extra, and you can get a refurb with a full warranty from benqdirect for $1199. It adds more lens shift and ZOom, excellent factory-calibrated color accuracy, a dynamic iris for scene-by-scene dynamic brightness and contrast, and 18GBPS HDMI for 4K 60fps HDR. It is a very large improvement for the price difference.

Anybody who has this - How is it for gaming? Any noticeable input lag?
Lag isn't the best here, 48ms. The Optoma UHD35/38, ViewSonic PX701-4K/PX748-4K (the 748 hasn't been released quite yet though), and the TK700STi as an upgrade pick would be your best picks for 4K gaming with low lag. They all use the most recent TI DMD DLP chip that gets around 16ms for 4K.

Has someone found a good comparison video of the 850 vs 800m?

based on specs, the 850 is an upgrade
The 850 and the 800m have the same TI DMD chip but the 850 has a dynamic iris which will help with dark scene contrast. The 800m also doesn't have lens shift so placement is harder.

It's not native 4K. Native resolution is only 1080 HD.

That's not what Benq's web site says.

4K UHD True 8.3 Million Pixel Perfection
Producing 4K UHD 3840x2160 resolution with 8.3 million distinct pixels, TK800M utilizes new generation 0.47" single-DMD DLP technology to minimize the sleek, compact profile for modern lifestyles. With four times the resolution of Full HD 1080p, 4K UHD reduces pixel blur for stunning clarity and crisply defined fine details to showcase the beautiful game.

It uses some technology to display 8 million pixels on the screen. That's native 4k. What is not native 4k is the Epson 3LCD 4k solution which displays 4 million pixels. What is also not native 4k is any projector that takes a 4k feed and displays it in 1080p.

What you are really arguing is that some native 4k technologies are better than others, but 4k pixel shifting DLP is native 4k like it or not.

I'm seeing $1274, where is the $1199 price?

I'll tell you, i'm in the market for a projector and the refurbs and sales make it so hard to select which to go with. I want to spend around a grand.
I saw it directly via BenQ couple of weeks back, I've not checked on it recently.

This model does support 3D, one of the reasons I chose it over Epson. Really solid projector for scenarios where you want the extra W level.

But for a mixed-use room, the 1000 less lumens in the HT3550 is a big negative…(which your post does suggest.) It will be nice to see more projectors with higher brightness as trend seems to more mixed-use rooms good for groups watching TV and sports, versus dedicated dark rooms for movies.

I have an aging Panasonic AE8000 in a mixed use room with ALR screen, and I want to replace fairly soon (before bulb fails) - but looking for ideally a lot more brightness for 135" screen and current laser projectors with the right brightness are quite a bit more…
