Here are my 2 cents for this projector.,

For a dedicated, light-controlled room, you don't want this projector. The TK80OM and TK850M are intended for multi-use rooms with significant ambient light. They had a white segment to the color wheel (RGBW) to increase white lumens, which sacrifices color lumens, color accuracy, and contrast. It's a good projector for a living room, but not for a dedicated theater.

The HT3550 is a much better choice for a dedicated theater. I would definitely think it's worth the extra, and you can get a refurb with a full warranty from benqdirect for $1199. It adds more lens shift and ZOom, excellent factory-calibrated color accuracy, a dynamic iris for scene-by-scene dynamic brightness and contrast, and 18GBPS HDMI for 4K 60fps HDR. It is a very large improvement for the price difference.
Keep saving!

3D is dead. Avatar sequels will be the death rattle.
I dread the day when 3D projectors will be "unobtanium".

I still enjoy my 3D movies on my projector and still collect 3D titles. Ripped all my 3D titles (SBS) and put it on a Plex server, so I can watch it on any 3D enabled device.
I'm not sure there will be any more 3D movies getting made post Avatar sequels. It's cyclical since the 50s but I think most people see it as a way to gouge on tickets. And I don't see it as a must have for a projector that's all.

Thanks. I got one ordered from bestbuy.
I don't have any experience with Projectors before.
I have mounted TVs and am comfortable with finding studs and working with drill.

Generally speaking how difficult is it to mount a projector to the ceiling.

It appears like there is so much geometry/math involved to figure out the right position of the mount point and screen sizes.
Do you think its worth getting it done from a professional?

Checked with BestBuy and they quoted $180 for the installation service.

I'd say if you can mount a TV, you could easily mount a projector.

This should help you figure out where you would mount it. [benq.com] Projectors usually have a few feet to work with to get the screen size you desire.
