Support these folks to fight against the tyranny of Adobe.

I have Publisher and I've been very very impressed coming from InDesign.

One time cost instead of recurring payments.

I have this and it's amazing. The learning curve took a few days but I can now do everything I used to be able to do in Adobe PS CS6 in Affinity Photo now. Adobe STOLE my legally paid for licences. They purposely allowed me to uninstall/deactivate my license key without telling me that their "activation servers for CS6 license keys is offline as of" such and such date. So they left their deactivation servers up why excactly? Why allow people to deactivate licence keys but not reactivate on new laptops? If I knew I wouldn't be able to reactivate my license keys on my new laptop I wouldn't have uninstalled CS6 from my old machine. Jesus. The number they gave be went directly to Creative Cloud customer support, and requires a Creative Cloud subscription number; wish I don't have because I wasn't a Adobe subscriber; I had purchased the software. Word got around that adobe was scamming people like this on the photography forms so people kept their 2005 laptops and just moved the hard drive over into new machines keeping the old insulations. Adobe got mad that all of those old users didn't want to subscribe to CC so they THEN issued a cease and desist out to all of the Adobe user email addresses telling them that if they continue to use old versions of the software they will be sued (this is of course a bluff bc they don't have the time or money to do that and we're just trying to bolster CC subscriptions). During the process of trying to activate my licenses I "luckily" had an old CS5 license key available but adobe then flagged both my legally paid for Student Edition keys as "counterfeit/Pirated keys" and bared them from being used and told me to contact Creative Cloud support (which I'm not allowed to use because I don't have a subscription number). Adobe maliciously designed this maze with death traps at each turn so that they could guarantee as many failed license reactivations as possible and then stole the rest of the keys. Then threatened to sue everyone that had ever legally purchased her software if they don't buy a new subscription. I will never use Adobe products again. They screwed the individual photographer when they went to forcing their customers to use subscription and went out of their way to try to harass, intimidate, and bully everyone who's ever used Adobe Photoshop into subscribing. I am 100% behind the Affinity photo project.

I tried the trial of Affinity Photo a year or so ago. To my surprise, it's missing such a basic feature. You can't simply make a selection and crop. There's a 9 page thread going back to 2017 on Serifs forum.

Big fan of Affinity Photo. I found it was a sufficient replacement for Photoshop myself though I was more of a hobbyist user of Photoshop rather than a professional one. Still, I haven't seen anything it can't do.

All you have to do is make a selection then copy and select "new from clipboard." That will crop your selection on a transparent background (and crop all sides to the closest pixel on each).

Thanks for this. Tired of paying for Adobe. This seems like a good option with a 14-day trial period.
