Teflon inside. Get the instant pot. It is stainless inside.
No, get this, non-stick is much easier to clean that stainless, and you are never scraping these so the wear is not a problem.
Neither has a stainless insert, so get this if you think you'll need 8qt. Also, I wish they had named it crackpot Smilie

Please don't make ignorant comments. It is nearly impossible to chemically break down Teflon during normal cooking. Yes it is true if you use a frying pan with no food in it and go above 570F the teflon will start to break down and inhalation of the fumes can cause some "flu like symptoms". That is not normal use however and would be difficult for most people to accomplish without some very bad behavior. It certainly isn't possible in a pressure cooker.

A pressure cooker has a maximum temperature of around 250F. Even for saute it would be very difficult to misuse the teflon pan insert this badly.

Again stop spreading outdated incorrect information about the safety of Teflon. It's one of the main materials used for medical implants for a very good reason you know.

I have an old 8qt instant pot and the insert is fine. Think that insert would work in this insignia pot?
Yes...it worked for me with the 6qt.

Thanks for linking to articles about PFOA and further indicating you don't know what you are talking about.

PFOA is harmful in large quantities and USED to be used in the manufacturing of Teflon pan coatings DECADES ago.

The PFOA found in Teflon coatings was trace amounts and was never going very shown to be harmful (again decades ago)

Out of an abundance of caution and associated with the bad press PFOA was removed from the manufacturing process DECADES ago.

So. Are you willing to dig yourself deeper with more wrong, outdated and incorrect information?

I know what I am talking about. You can brush up your knowledge or be happy whatever you know about it. There is no point in arguing.

the point of arguing is to prevent misinformation from propagating. I invite you concede my friend and allow people to have correct information.

Reference to Dark Waters and PFOA as a reason not to use Teflon is misguided and inaccurate.

Teflon has not been manufactured with PFOA nor has it contained PFOA for many decades. --edit-- It turns out the last use of PFOA in Teflon was 2013, though it was being phased out for far longer than that.

It's especially unfortunate that you didn't read and digest the articles you attempted to cite. If you had you would know that the first two articles are related the the Dark Waters scandal which is related to the release of PFOA in wastewater into the environment. This has nothing to do with Teflon other than in the past it was a byproduct of the manufacturing process decades ago---- FAIL

Your second two articles aren't about Teflon or PFOA at all but rather PFAS which is another matter entirely.

Did you just google "teflon bad" and copy the first 4 links you found.

shame on you for providing citations that don't support your position.

People should have no fear of using the Teflon pot in this deal.

Since we are throwing out citations I will include a valid one:
https://www.healthline.com/nutrit...are-safety

"Today, all Teflon products are PFOA-free. Therefore, the health effects of PFOA exposure are no longer a cause for concern."

So my friend this isn't a difference of opinion. This is a matter of facts and false information and an opportunity (for you and others) to become educated on the topic.

Wait, didn't you start by arguing that teflon will create poison gas when you heat it and then after being debunked you changed your argument to PFOA? That's not super credible LOL.

Ok. You win, I lose. I understand what you are trying to say here and I appreciate your effort. Since I do not know your educational background, there is no point of discussion.

Actually this particular cooker is not Teflon coated, it is ceramic coated!. So let's stop with the Teflon argument which is irrelevant in this scenario. Also for those asking about using the stainless steel from instant pot in this, it works. Apparently both are manufactured by the same factory in China. The Insignia version is analogous to a grocery store brand without a few bells & whistles of the instant pot.

It is somewhere in the manual, where it describes the content of the box. Have had mine for over a yr and can assure you it is ceramic coated. As a matter of fact I looked into how I could swap the touch control board with the one from instant pot since the dimensions are the same . Keep in mind that this is just a hot plate, pot, pressure vacuum seal and the the control board. There are folks that bought this, then ordered the stainless steel insert from instant pot and it fits perfectly.

Actually it is not in the manual, just checked but I can't remember where I had originally read it when I bought it. U can buy the stainless steel inner pot from instant pot if u prefer that. Thinking about it now, i think the instant pot non-stick [google.com] is the one that is ceramic coated and we all just inferred that this one must be the same and i believe it is. I tried calling their 1877-467 4289 to inquire but i did not feel like waiting on hold.
