Nice price. Would be all over it if it was 38-40mm. Seems every watch deal these days is 42mm or more. Nothing for us thin wristers Frown
This a mechanical watch while the Apple Watch really isn't a watch. It's a mini computer on your wrist. There's just no comparison.
The Khaki is a unique watch in both stying and dimensions. I have 7"-7.25" wrist, and often wear 42mm divers. I tried the 42mm khaki field automatic for a while. Loved the style, but it was just too large for my wrist. The larger face/lack of outer bezel and long lugs make the Khaki wear so much larger than the measurements would suggest. It is the same reason the 38mm Khaki wears so well. I ended up selling off the 42mm and getting a 38mm khaki. It is just about perfect. I have found 39mm-40mm to be my sweet spot for most other watches.

Love Hamilton watches, but why are there so many numbers? I miss watches like the Hamilton H76665725, wish I could find that under $300 again.

The Marathon GPM (general purpose mechanical) is a bit smaller than you want at 34mm, but is definitely more true to traditional field watch sizing. Is $360 retail, cheaper for the quartz versions

Can be found for 20% off right now

In! I've had my eye on khaki fields for a long time. 42mm is the kicker for me. Can't pass

Really helpful for those of us who have a hard time quickly remembering the time by position

Yes, very confusing. Especially the double digit numbers.

Definitely feel you on this but! Shorter lugs allow for larger cases on thinner wrists, just a thought!

But seriously, we need to keep watches in the 36-40mm range Smilie

Typically field watches have always had 12 hour and 24 hour markers. You may be more interested in pilot watches Smilie

Agreed. I have a 7.5" wrist and tried both and the 38mm looked way better on me. The 42mm looked huge.

Watch out for movement issues for certain Hamilton gray market inventory. Ive purchased a Hamilton Navy Pioneer from a competing gray market site. New and unused but the movement gains +6/7 seconds a day. Gorgeous watch at a great price but unwearable if you use it to tell time!

Edit: Google search shows a history of movement issues with this model.

+6/7 is well within the accuracy range for an H10 movement, which is what the Pioneer has as well, and really not bad at all. You're going to have to spend a lot more or go quartz if you want more accuracy without relying on luck.

They slowed the BPH/frequency down to 21,600 on the H10 to get the 80 hours of reserve out of it as well.

I love this watch! My uncle has a government issued Hamilton Khaki from his service (in the early 50s). His still works great!

I have found the Hamilton H-10 and H-50 movements to be pretty reliable, extremely accurate, and have a huge power reserve. There have been issues reported with the early H-50 mechanical hand wound movements, but I havn't seen many reported problems with the H-10. The only complaint I could find is a sticky clutch wheel causing the rotor to spin when winding. This does not effect functionality, and is usually the result of purchasing from a gray market dealer where stock has been sitting for some time causing the internal lubricates to dry up.
