This is a good deal. I bought two individual 4x8 kits @ $160 each. I had to add some joists to make it work because my garage didn't have them running all the way across. Once set up properly it is really sturdy.

Well that is no good. : / I thought that it my look alright if I only lowered it to the standard tote height (~18 inches).

You will be fine... put a couple in the front of the garage at the front of vehicles that is mostly wasted space. You can hang short curtains across the front to hide the contents.

Having made several of these out of old steel bed frames for friends and family, most every homeowner needs storage space for at least seasonal items.

I have a cheap neighbor that preaches minimalism, while wanting to borrow everything when they need it. Hypocrites, I and others finally shut them off as the neighborhood parasites.

The last time this deal came up, I actually bought them without even noticing that you select the dropdown range before adding to cart. Purely by accident I ended up with the shortest dropdown range, but now that I have them, I'm actually glad I have the shorter dropdown. My garage still feels pretty open, and I think the longer dropdowns would have made it feel cramped. At the longest setting (21 in.) most of our storage bins fit right in.

These are perfect for above the garage door. When the door is open, they are hidden above the door and you can't even tell they are there. Normally I'd say just buy 3/4" plywood and you can make a sturdier shelving unit for cheaper, but with the current price of lumber that might not be the case anymore.

I would recommend using a good stud finder for this and if you have an impact wrench and/or good drill, it will make everything much easier.

i installed these by myself, it would help if you have another hand but very possible with one person and a 5-6ft ladder. Also, triple check your garage height and choose the proper length.

It can be safe if you're careful. By that I mean clear all floor obstructions so you don't overextend yourself if your ladder couldn't be situated properly. I did it by myself (twice) with a platform ladder, and is best if you can reach the ceiling without tiptoes.

Bought these for our new house that has less storage. I've put up two and have one to go. Rather than pay someone, I put the money I was going to spend on installation and bought a laser level and good stud finder. I measure distances from the wall on the floor laser line, then use the stud-finder on the same line on the ceiling. It has made installation so much easier than trying to find four discrete installation points, while measuring on the ceiling from a ladder.

They are super sturdy have been great. I disagree about the eyesore, One of ours has been installed over the garage door equipment so you only see it/access it from inside, when the garage is closed. Others don't hang down too far. At any rate, space needs are space needs and when our new house had less storage than our old, we had to make do and these fit the bill.

I need a storage rack to store my storage racks. I bought these on Woot six months ago and haven't gotten around to installing them.

I was going to try to use a square shape ubolt in the attic since that is all open rather than use the lag bolts. I haven't tried it to see if I can get the spacing correct. Only one side of the angle brackets that go on the ceiling are elongated.
