Yes, lesser quality. That model uses a J-micron chipset, versus the Realtek chip in the model originally posted. Some people have had good luck with the J-micron, but the Realtek has much broader compatibility and runs significantly cooler.
I bought this when it was posted back in July at a higher price and have nothing bad to say about it. I use it as an external drive and it has been working flawlessly.

Sounds like someone who posted earlier may have received a bad type C-to-C cable, but that is not a flaw in the unit itself. I'm considering buying another one to use as a (fast) data backup device.... yummy
I have this one for use on my PS5 and have had lots of issues with using the USB C connection.

Within a few months the USB-C cable failed for it. Using the USB-A cable now, but just wanted to let people know that I had a few issues with it.

I bought this last time it was posted and have used it a few times to transfer 750GB of music to a few backups with pretty good speed and heat dissipation. Good pick up if you got one of the PCI SSDs that have been posted recently.

Just curious - is this SSK model [amazon.com] any lesser quality? It's $16.99 after $3 coupon.

I had terrible experience. PC doesn't recognize the contents of the drive. The light comes up and a drive gets mounted on the PC. That's it. Had to send it back.

I just returned that one, its harder to use its not tool-less and is painstaking to put drives in and out with a tiny screw and brace. Not for me.

Does NOT work for Chia farming. Tried 5 different usb enclosures. All errored out in the first plot.

Ed: Not sure why this got downvotes, just trying to give information to the community about how a possible purchase may or may not be used. If you oppose crypto (or this one in particular), I promise it's not my fault. Just trying to save my fellows some trouble and heartache, and maybe some delivery fuel.

How did you get so much music? I really would like to know.
