Southwest Airlines - Several West Coast Cities to Hawaii for ~ $200 RT

+9 Deal Score

Was looking at some flights and saw a ton of flights from various west coast cities to most of the Hawaiian islands for ~$200 or less round trip. Not sure why but the points value is more than the usual equivalent. Unfortunately I need the flexibility the points redemption can provide but if you don't need that there are some pretty crazy deals out there right now!

Sample:
San Diego to Kauai 9/17-9/26 - $198 or 24,894 pts + $11.20
San Jose to Maui 9/17-9/26 - $204

I'm not seeing either of these prices for roundtrip flights on SW's site.

It may not be all cities. The ones I looked at had direct flights. Check their low fare calendar to see an overview by month.

The Southwest 50 sale appears to have begun early, with some significant discounts. Start dates seem to be in July, end date seems to be 11/03, can't confirm though until tomorrow.

Example fares, sorry no dates, but the lowest I've seen if you check their Low Fare Calendar:
LAX (Los Angeles) to LGA (New York) as low as $86OW
ORD (Chicago) to HNL (Honolulu) as low as $146OW
SEA (Seattle) to MIA (Miami) as low as $84OW

Anytime and Business Select upgrades are significantly discounted as well. Southwest fares are great because they allow two checked bags and you can cancel up to 10 minutes before flight and get a travel credit. WiFi is $8 per device for the entire day, even if you change planes.

Looks like the sale is discounting cash fares only. Point fares aren't discounted.

Hat tip to FlyerTalk, speculation it was their Birthday Sale and sure enough, it is. https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/s...omers.html

Anyone have recommendations on best method to purchase - Chase points, southwest points or cash because it's so heavily discounted?

I think you transfer to a SW credit card or something

Are prices shown with discount already? I don't see where to put the code.

Yes, if your booking dates are between 9/15 and 11/3, the discount is automatic. You can see it in the Fare Breakdown.

I can confirm this as well, you just have to enter the SAVE50 promo code unlike their $ fares that seem to already factor it in.
