It was recently announced that Samsung and Google would be combining their smartwatch OSes, with Wear OS being the branding. So Tizen is basically dead on smartwatches and won't see further development by Samsung. Samsung made it official that these older watches wouldn't be updated to the new Wear OS. So, although the hardware is still nice, it's disappointing that these watches won't see any substantive software updates. I'm personally waiting for the new generation of Wear OS watches.

wondering why this is getting thumbed down. compared to previous front page submissions it seems to be an even better deal, but im clueless in the smartwatch game. anyone downvoting care to give actual input?

edit for clarity... the reason i asked was because as of noon today the deal score was at -3, and about a month ago the 40mm version was this same price and went front page and all that jazz.

wondering why this is getting thumbed down. compared to previous front page submissions it seems to be an even better deal, but im clueless in the smartwatch game. anyone downvoting care to give actual input?

I'm looking to reluctantly replace my old Pebble watch. Is the Active 2 able to control music playing on my phone (play/pause, skip tracks, change volume, etc)? What about other background media playing like Podcasts or Audible? How does that work (which buttons do what, or is it all touchscreen?)

The Pebble is able to control just about any media playing, and with dedicated buttons, I can skip tracks, change volume, and play/pause without looking at the watch. I can't imagine the Active 2 will be as accessible.

Personally Like the previous galaxy watch better and it was $95 brand new sealed from MS a few times the last couole months - thats prob why the TD's.

This is $35 more, open box. And typically less liked vs the previous galaxy watches (S3 classic and frontier and galaxy watch after those) from hearing from others and reading online

Its ok deal IMHO, not TD worthy but not FP Either…

Lastly i think bestbuy and samsung have or have had deals on this watch (new and with/without trade in) so that also could be a factor in this items deal worthy status- not 100% sure there i havent looked deeper into the sales yet…

Got them both from MS Outlet. GWA2 LTE for $150 and GW for $100. Returned the GW as it was just too chunky to run with and sleep in. However, if I were not trying to track activities and sleep, I'd have kept the GW. It's just more liked because of how it looks, and the bigger battery, and I agree...just not for activity and sleep tracking, since the GWA2 is lower profile and has better sensors.

The cellular version from Samsung was $150 earlier in the year brand new in box. This isn't a bad deal per se, but having cellular and the warranty direct from Samsung is worth the slight premium. Bought a different style band off Amazon and have been very happy with it. Not as stylish as the Fossil offerings, but certainly much more responsive.

I bought this open box on eBay a few months ago for a similar price ($119) and have been very happy with it. The box I received had a big "Amazon Warehouse" sticker on it but the watch itself looked pristine. I recommend it for the price, but, to be fair, this is the most expensive smart watch I've owned (coming from Mi Band 2, 3, & 4). I was holding out for the Wyze Watch but this deal came up and I decided to spring for it and considering how lackluster the former was received, I'm glad I went with this. Just my 2 cents.
