It's kind of like Hollow Knight in some ways. It's an isometric action game with faster combat than HK. There is a ton of customization available with different weapons, bonuses and routes. Lots of replayability (that's kind of the idea) but it's executed really well. Similar level of difficulty overall (it's a hard game to master). Less about exploring, more about combat and then there's the interaction with NPCs that acts as the narrative (characters are excellent). Overall it's an amazing game and I would pay full price or more easily for it.
I played it on Switch and had no issues. It technically runs better on PC but if you've never actually played it on PC you probably won't be able to tell the difference. The only reason I can tell that the switch is a bit lower FPS (and occasionally has some FPS drops due to some crazy fights) is because I've watched videos of people playing on PC, but it didn't impact my experience.

I found this game to be incredibly boring and tedious. There isn't much depth to the game. If you play for an hour and dislike it, it's not going to get any better.

I bought this game a while ago based on all the good word-of-mouth.
I wasn't sure if I'd like it. Over a hundred hours later, I can say it's one of my favorite Switch games.

I played this game on steam and put in 200+ hrs, still cannot past heat 27, but I did platinum it. Great fun game and very addicting. I love that you can just pick it up for 15-20min session at a time.

Addicting. I've played 69 hours in less than one month on PC.

Does this game play reasonably well on the Switch?

"reasonably well" is an understatement. This game is gold.

I've had both positive and negative experiences with this game... at times it is incredibly frustrating if you get week boons and get stuck in a rut. I can see where people who dislike it are coming from... but then you get a playthrough with just one good boon and absolutely shred through... it is SO much fun! Eventually you start to figure out the boons that go well together and start shredding every playthrough, and it's addictive!
The story is amazing, gameplay is super fun, depth and replayability is ENORMOUS as you try to master different weapons. I absolutely love it.
My big gripe is that progression can seem slow and levels do reappear over and over so it can feel repetitive, but that's the heart of a rouge game, and overcoming these frustrations are what makes it even more fun in the end.

It's a great game, but yes, it is being overhyped. Once you get a hang of it, the game is very short and only has about 4 worlds with 1 of them being much shorter than the rest. If you never played Dead Cells, I'd recommend getting that first since it's not only better, but has much more content, similar price range and Hades borrowed quite heavily from it.

I'm terrible at it but it hasn't stopped me from trying and having fun at it. I'm definitely more used to movement mechanics (and healing) like Diablo's so this has required some getting used to.

Damn. I would have totally picked it up at this price if it didn't just get announced to be coming to Game Pass in August. I'd still buy this on Switch if it ever dropped to $10 or less though.
If you value playing on the go then don't pass this up Wink I have owned this on the switch since near launch (played the crap out of it) and just recently purchased it on the Epic Game store for ~$10 (using a $10 coupon) so I can play on my computer. They recently added cross progression so you can link your Epic/Steam game save with your Nintendo Switch save to play on the go. I am wondering if the Xbox version will include cross progression as well... Anybody here know?

As someone who has played hollow knight and this, this game is sooooo much more forgiving if you're a person who may play hours one day, but not again for a couple weeks. Hollow Knight made me eventually rage quit early in lol. I kept coming back to this and turned (I think it's called like "god mode" or something) it easier and beat it about 5 attempts later. I really didn't expect this game to be as fun as it was!
Yup, it is called God Mode in the settings where it ramps up your damage each time you die (something like that). So i see you said you "beat" it 5 attempts later. Have you gone any further and beaten it any more times? Semi-spoiler but the game actually takes 10 "completions" to unlock a pretty in depth ending so keep going Wink I am not sure if there is a deeper ending after that initial 10 clears but I think there may very well be as the "achievements" hint at a further story progression (which I may never achieve but would like to haha)

Tempting, but planning to get the PC version, and holding out for a Steam sale.
I believe Epic has a sale and coupon where you can get this for ~$10. Keep in mind there is also cross progression with the Nintendo Switch version and the PC version.

I've put in 115 hours so far, and I'd never played a dungeon crawler/roguelike before. The story is addicting and the whole game play is well thought out. It made me interested in other roguelike games, but I don't know if any will be as good.
Hades is definitely one of the best dungeon crawling/roguelikes. I don't believe there are any others that are as good but some other roguelikes that you might be interested in are Moonlighter, Dead Cells and Sparklite. Or even check this [50gameslike.com]out for some other recommendations. Good luck!

Dang I can't even get past heat level ~3 ish but haven't put that many hours. I am gradually tryin to go up in heat level with each weapon and unlock the hidden aspects... Any suggestions/recommendations?

Are there any major differences between the Switch or PC versions? Or is it just the portability of it being on a Switch versus having it on my computer?

I've had my eye on the game and was debating Switch versus Steam/Epic and was leaning towards the physical copy of the Switch game for the soundtrack and art book... but this Switch price is as low as I've seen it.
