Both 14nm, 65w & 95w consecutively. Only a year old but great price, if only they priced like these when there's no competition.

Also, note that the 10700 can pull over 200watts on the right motherboard. This is actually a 'good' thing, since you can get a high quality motherboard, crank the power targets way up and get the same performance as the 10700k as long as you can cool off the chip. Basically, go for a better motherboard and the cheaper chip rather than the other way around.

But, while it is fun to play with power targets to get some extra juice - note that going intel right now means more money for a motherboard, cooler, powersupply and power bill. So AMD might end up being cheaper for just a 5600x.

Yes comet lake runs hotter/less efficient but most people already have a suitable PSU and cooler as if youve been building PC's you have that stuff already, its not like comet lake was some huge increase in power or heat. Intel boards are slightly more expensive, but by $20ish for similar quality to an AMD board, you can find bargain bin AMD boards for cheaper, but most people dont actually want those for numerous reasons.

I wish I could upgrade my 9700k to comet lake, because the prices are so good now, but comet lake was a new motherboard socket so I lose mobo compatibility, otherwise id be all over the $319 10 core 10850k at microcenter.

AMD motherboards are no longer cheap, so that's just inaccurate. Cooler, do you mean because you need a better cooler because Intel chips run hotter? PSU, the difference with chips is at most 50-60 watts, that's not going to change the pricing of a PSU, so not really sure where you got that from. And with AMD overpricing their chips lately, it will take you the entire life of the chip to spend more in electricity.

I see your post is a bit aggressive in defending Intel here, which isn't necessary. I actually run a 10900 because it was a better deal at the time. We are here for deals, which is great - I would totally snag the 10700 at this price to use in my setup (assuming that I already have motherboard, cooler, psu).

But, a deal on a chip is great until the other costs start to pile up. So a total system cost needs to be taken into consideration.
Motherboards: Right now the Intel motherboard selection is going to be critical to getting equivalent performance to AMD. There are $100 AMD Motherboards (b450) will run a 5800x without a problem. Intel boards you will be more in the $150-175 range to be able to run full time turbo boost. That is a difference of around ~$50-75 in advantage for AMD.
Processor Cooler: You can use the AMD stock cooler. Intel, to get the equivalent performance will need at least a $30 tower cooler.
Power Supply: The 10700 (or K) will pull 80w more than the 5800x once all are overclocked. It will pull 140w more than the 5600x. This may or may not require a bump from a 500w PSU to a 750, which would add ~$30 to the build.

Essentially when I sit down and pencil it out for 'gaming' purposes the 5600x matches or beats the 10700 at a lower price. So, this processor deal is great if you have intel stuff lying around

There is a reason that AMD chips have gone up in price, the market is showing that they are worth it when all things are considered.

For a long time, the prices for AMD were high due to the low supply of parts, not because everyone loved them. And yes, AMD performance certainly pushed down the prices of Intel parts (thank you). But getting back to the earlier point. which I agree with, is that one can more or less get the same performance (Intel) at a higher power point than AMD. Then you just have to scale up the required parts. That's the real comparison to be made. And since it was easier to get Intel parts, well its a simple decision.

To be more precise and per Intel, the 10700K is listed at 125W, not 95W.

10700 non-k for 220 or 10700kf (no IGPU) for $240? (https://www.newegg.com/intel-core...6819118128).
Use code 794FLSH76 for $30 off.

Also, any mobo deal? Z490 seems like good pairing but I don't see any good deal.
Im upgrading from a 2600x ryzen 5 rig and haven't followed Intel releases for a while.

I really just want a front usbc connector lol. Also looking for an excuse to do another build. It's been almost 2 yrs.
