I am no expert, but I can speak from experience with this exact projector. We have had this mounted to our ceiling for 4+ years displayed on a 135" screen. We do keep the blinds closed. It works for us. If you can't dim the room then you may want 3k+. We just replaced our first bulb with over 1000 hours on it.

Far from an expert but someone mentioned I would need 3,000+ lumens to use outdoors or in indoor lighted areas. Thoughts?

1060 vs 2100? both same price. I plan to use it for outdoor movie nights, but also in the basement where its dark. Base prices are surprising. Epson site says normal refurb price for 1060 is $587 while 2100 is $425. Which should i choose?

I did consider the 1060 as well. For your use, the 1060 might be better - it's brighter. The color accuracy, contrast and lag were all in favor of the 2100. Since I'm planning on using it in a dark room, I leaned towards the 2100.

There are also some lens shift capabilities that would make the 1060 better in certain cases.

I bought the 2100 from Amazon the other day (same timeframe as Adorama). Direct from Epson is good, for us who bought from Adorama and Amazon you can check warranty here: https://epson.com/w/warranty it's still 2-years for me as well.

Coming from a cheap sub-$100 projector, the 210@ is amazing. Although it is amazingly bright and sharp comparatively, it isn't bright enough to use at 7p outdoors right now (couple days before the solstice). But this fits my needs for the price!

Thanks for advice. the 1060 really only has the brightness going for it, about 500 lumens more. The lack of audio out, weak speaker, and the contrast concern me a bit. I have to check out that lens shift capability to see the differences there as you mentioned.

Have 1060, bright as hell.. warning though, no audio output. Makes things a little tricky, especially with my outdoor setup. I run an hdmi audio extractor to split off sound to rca inputs.

Indoors avr does the work.

Don't undersell the lumens.. I have a 150 watt floor lamp on either side of the screen with poor daylight restriction.. still perfectly viewable.

Ya, that's a concern. I think i'm planning on running my source from Firestick, so I think with that I'm able to bluetooth to an external speaker. But ya, it does complicate things. That brightness is tempting for outdoor use, but other than that seems not as good for indoors or if its dark enough outside. In fact, the contrast ratio on the 2100 seems MUCH higher, and that could compensate a bit so colors pop, even with the 500 less lumens.

arghhhh, decisions! and no returns to boot!
