Is Verizon still adding a $10/mo surcharge for 5G?

You have to be/get on an unlimited plan. For me with two lines, it would double my bill, adding about $80/mo. To me, having to upgrade to an expensive unlimited plan is a far worse dealbreaker than monthly bill credits.

I was hoping our "old phones" would be eligible for this, but after checking eligibility for our phones and none of them being eligible, seems Verizon categorizes our phones as "ancient phones" instead.

The deal here is the phone is free after 24 months of statement credits. Some will down vote because of this, but people like me don't care because I'm not changing providers. Also the line has to be on an unlimited plan. I just traded my wife's Galaxy S8 for a new S21 and she's on Start Unlimited. Pretty slick deal if you ask me. Verizon doesn't usually do deals like this for existing customers.

Seems like a bad deal for people like me. I'm on a legacy data plan for $50 a month. It would cost $30 more a month for Verizon's cheapest unlimited plan. And 24 x 30 = 720. So Verizon is really only giving $80 off an $800 phone if you do not need or use an unlimited plan. However, for anyone who independently wants to switch or upgrade to a Verizon unlimited plan, this looks like an excellent deal.

Edit: Sorry for the mistake - I guess Verizon's cheapest unlimited is $70, which makes the deal $240 better than I say above over 24 months.

Please read the terms clearly. The deal is for getting an iPhone 12's to be latest on iPhone and Sansung S21's to be latest on Samsung. Those are not asked as trade in devices.

This deal will only be great if you're adding 5 or more lines then your monthly unlimited premium plan would be $40+Tax per line. And you will be benefitting $1000 (Switching $300 Virtual prepaid Card + $700 in monthly bill credits trading in a iPhone 8 or higher, Samsung S8 or higher or Google pixel 3 or higher. I did 5 google pixel 3's (Got for $95 each phone from ebay).

Went to Best Buy to get this deal. They said cracked phones are eligible for trade in as well. We traded in my sister's galaxy S9 for the full $800. We did have to upgrade our plan to unlimited but since we added a line that my sister is paying for, the extra cost seemed to work out in the end.
