Hard to find reviews on these. Anyone have an opinion? Was looking at dual 15s even though the wife will murder me.

I'm actually in the same boat as well. Although I'm looking at the smaller versions. I think that's the one thing that bugs me is that there aren't that many reviews. I have been talking back and forth with them and one thing I find impressive is that they build everything in the house in California from the ground up and this includes their subwoofers as well. For the price I don't think anything can touch it and the fact that it's made in the USA is icing on the cake.

The reviews on the bookshelf speaker state it is articulate but bass-light and lacks heft. It uses proprietary drivers that look similar to the ones on these subwoofers, so one might be able to draw some conclusions based on that.

It's a shame, I love the looks of the bookshelves, but I also love bass.

From what I see and the limited amount I've read, these seem to resemble the REL HT series. Two of the 15 inchers for $900 seems like a steal considering the REL Predator is $1400-1800 for a single.

Only the super expensive halo line looks to be built in ca, otherwise it's all China

Nope. I have the emails and even pictures. They specifically told me everything from their subwoofers to the amplifiers are designed and manufactured in house.

On the photo of the back of the SW12, when you mag it up, it's fuzzy, but you can make out the "designed by Starke Sound in California, manufactured in China", so either their emails are wrong or they have outdated images on their site.

Hmm you could be right. I just sent another email to them to verify this. I'll get back in a bit 👍

EDITED. So yes only their higher end stuff is manufactured in the U.S. (At least when it comes to subwoofers / speakers).

Here is a review:
http://peteswrite.blogspot.com/20...eview.html

This guy compares it to the REL HT-1205 (says its basically the same thing) and JL Audio E-112 (nothing will touch this sub for it's size).

Tempted to try the 15 pair, looks like it would be a good music sub.

Hmm, limited pictures of the actual product on the website, mainly renders, and that main photo at the top? Wow, they really need to spend some more time on the marketing stuff..

Just saw the Starke Amp in a Next Best Thing video on YouTube today. I asked about other reviews and they say that Cheap Audio Man and SpareChane on Youtube are in the process of creating review videos for the 12" and 15".

Color me skeptical, but I'm going to sit this one out. I'd definitely be interested in a follow-up /review from anyone who pulls the trigger on this deal.

In the same boat, price seems good but there simply isn't enough info about these.

woofer looks exactly like the UM12-22 /15

I ended up purchasing two 10's. I figure for the price it was too good of a deal to pass up. Pretty hard to screw up a sealed enclosure from what I've researched. Plus a frequency response below 20hz for this price is pretty hard to find. Especially for two subs at 499. Cheapest sub I know that can go lower are the BIC PL300 which is around $425 each.
