This is the newest iteration of Inspiron Performance series, replacing the Inspiron 15 Plus and this time Dell has upgraded the hardware by a great margin. This is a great alternative of the 2021 Dell XPS 15 series, which will cost you around $2400, with the FHD+ display, at same configuration, in case you don't need a super bright display.
  • Now the Display is a 3K 16:10 display which is higher resolution than all the standard QHD (2560x1440) or QHD+ (2560x1600). Also, 100% sRGB. Display brightness is average, around 300 its.
  • The Graphics card is RTX 3060 60W, with probably around 15W to 20W extra with Dynamic Boost 2.0
  • The Trackpad is 15% bigger and the keyboard is 6% bigger than the Inspiron 15 Plus series.

Is that the best reason you came up with? Any small footprint Laptops with Number pad will always have the Trackpad shifted toward the left because it is always aligned with the Spacebar. Do one thing, check some images of some of these smaller 15.6 Laptops with trackpad and see their position. Dell XPS 15 does not have a numberpad and that's why the Spacebar is in the middle section, and so is the trackpad.

Needing a laptop for work with some graphic design and other needs. Lots of power on this and given I'll have it hooked up to an external monitor mostly I'll give it a shot despite lack of reviews right now. If xps is reasonably priced I may get an xps 15 or 17 when they drop and return this.

Did you understand what is the purpose of this Laptop? If you go by your reasoning of the Graphics card, then Dell XPS 15 with a GTX 1650 Ti and costs nearly $1800 for this configuration or Dell XPS 17 which costs $2400 with a RTX 2060 Max-Q, or Lenovo ThinkPad Xtreme Gen 3 with a GTX 1650 Ti with $2000, would have been the worst deal ever, isn't it? But they are considered one of the best Windows Portable Productivity machines by everybody, well except for you. This laptop is never targeted for gaming in the first place.

Looks great, but not at this price. Would love this if it were around $1200-1300.. I need to upgrade my aging Vostro 7590 with a 9750H/GTX 1050 which I got for $900 new in 2019.

But this is a pretty steep price increase..

They have a $1300 model but those normally come with lower tier GPU, just like GTX 1650/Ti in 2020 Thin & Light performance Laptops. The RTX 3050 model costs around $1320. RTX 3060 Max-Q is like the most powerful GPU you're going to see in 2021 Thin & Light Performance Laptops. New XPS 15 and 17, Lenovo IdeaPad Pro series...the upcoming ThinkPad Xtreme series, RTX 3060 is the maximum. Similarly this Laptop is the highest spaced model in terms of CPU and GPU for this series.
