Can't you make a $50 payment? You'll just have a credit on your account that you can use for next month. I don't have T-Mobile but I plan to give it to one of my friends who has it.

It wouldn't. When I switched over to T-Mobile (from AT&T) a few months ago and purchased my new phones at a corporate store, I had to pay the sales tax on the devices and the new SIM cards. Chase categorizes these charges as "Telecommunication equipment and phone sales". I would guess that the same classification applies for online sales of accessories.

This Chase offer above for 50+ x 2 will likely want the merchant type listed as "Telecommunication services". (This is what I see when I pay my cellphone bill online at T-Mobile). (Incidentally this is the same classification they use to determine the 5 percent back for Chase Freedom Q1 2021 for Phone Services — this makes sense: you can't expect 5 percent back for a $1000 phone you buy at a T-Mobile store)

To answer your question: just make two payments online at T-Mobile for $50 each - and it'll trigger a $100 chase credit back — you'll just have credit on your phone bill - shouldn't be a problem as long as you don't cancel within the next few months.

I paid $50 and $51 for an existing T-Mobile account and have not received the email yet that the Offer was triggered. So this is probably going to be YMMV
P.S. - For similar offers at Verizon/AT&T in the past I received instant notifications that the offer was indeed triggered.

The Chase Offers don't trigger an immediate email - unlike American Express offers. In my experience, I've done a bunch of the Chase Offers - mainly food (Panera, Boston Market, Dunkin) and they all come through. You have to make sure you add the offer via your Chase app (hitting the + sign) before you make the required transaction. The offer will appear under the "Added" tab under Chase Offers. In 3-5 business days you'll get the email and within your app, the credit will be added to "Amount earned to date" and your offer will now appear under the "Redeemed" section. And in a day or so, the actual statement credit will show up on your credit card.

If you click the "update alert preferences" on the deal and set it to alert you once an offer if triggered/redeemed etc , it alerts you just like Amex Offers etc..
