Been watching this at $140 for a few weeks now. Price history shows this is a near average price over the past year, but recently inflated prices made me jump on it for now.
Model: mens g-shock atomic solar resin watch - black rubber strap - silver dial - gwm5610-1

I have worn this watch (a solar powered G-Shock with radio time-keeping) everyday for well over ten years. It's a great watch and this is a good deal compared to what I originally paid.
It does. I don't think there's a digital Casio watch out there which doesn't.
Can someone explain to me why this so pricey? I feel like they were way less a couple of decades ago.
It's just a plain digital watch, right - other than being solar powered - is there anything specifically special about this thing?

I bought this watch in 2013 for $115.15. You can get them cheaper but you just have to keep your eyes on it for quite a while. Still works great by the way, excellent watch.

I was able to get this watch for about the same price from a third party seller a week or two ago. Great watch so far - not too bulky, nice backlight at night, gets the atomic signal to keep time accurate.
I wanted the solar power because I've had several watches let water in after being opened to change battery. With this watch I can go up to 10 years without opening the watch and keep the 200m water resistance.
Some other G-Shocks are similar price including the GW6900-1 and the bigger GW-7900-1CR. The 5610 seems to have increased in price lately so under $100 seems like a good deal.

I got a solar atomic G Shock at Walmart on Clearance for $50 back in 2006 and I'm still wearing it although it could use a new band to replace the replacement band I got I think in like 2014. Walmart sells the same exact watch for 80-something now.

This is a solid rugged watch. It does one thing and does it really well.
